Program is nice and had no problems with entering Federal return information but in filing the state of Michigan it was a nightmare. Could not download the state forms after the initial install of the program and had to call tech support which did help me in sending the file to my online account and downloading the files from there. Once I completed the state forms it crapped out e-filing them. To workaround this I copied the files to a different PC which had TurboTax loaded just to e-file the state then received a message that it could not because I needed to e-file the Federal first.
Being the one and only tax prep software I have used it was a little frustrating. I don't know if it was a PC issue or the software that was causing the problem.
What's great about it: simple and easy to use
What's not so great: problems with MI state forms, Can't mail fed form and e-file MI state

This area whereby IRA withdrawal affects that as well as taxable SS could be explained better so I can expect the change in tax due.
What's great about it: Printed out the terrible tax forms easily
What's not so great: Social security taxable portion is invisibly calculated

Triumph Again

I've been a TurboTax faithful since it first became available. Automatically handling my tax situation for that particular year, and providing links to necessary Publications has always been a strength. A little confusing when it shows the full amount of a Mortgage points deduction ($7500ish) when it is only going to allow $260ish deduction since the points are spread out over the loan. It does the calculation properly, and gives the correct deduction, but shows the total amount on the summary page. This theme carries over into other categories of deductions too. Also, if I have a charity contribution on my W-2, TT handles the deduction, but I would like it to appear on the summary page.
What's great about it: Always easy to get the correct numbers on the correct forms
What's not so great: A few improvements could be made.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Been using TT since DOS version. My CPA friends use it too for their own returns. If it's good enough for them, it remains good enough for me. I have a relatively challenging (not too bad compared to others) mixed income of my full time job, self-employment, and wife's employment. TT have never messed up if I entered everything correctly.
Tried another program once. Non-starter for my returns
What's great about it: Mine is a medium difficult return, piece of cake to make "what if" calculations

Using Turbo Tax has been more thorough and trustworthy than my last human tax preparer. Probably will go a little faster next year, as last year's computer completely died and couldn't transfer any of last year's Turbo Tax assisted return. I don't think I was aware of my tax credit eligibility for an energy-saving white metal roof until it was addressed in your program. Thanks Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Turbo Tax takes me through all the input so systematically. Verifies dependents & deductions.
What's not so great: Seemed to take more time this year, but probably due to working thru more possible deductions.

Smooth sailing

I have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years. Tried others, but came back after realizing that it is the best tax preparation software available. I like that when I reach question issues, there are meaningful help comments and references to where further information can be acquired.
What's great about it: Informative/ simple
What's not so great: Can't come up with anything
