Great Tax tool!

I've used TurboTax every year for my taxes, and it always helps me get a great return! It is simple to use and has a clear interface, but at the same time explains everything and lets you review your return multiple times. I highly recommend this product to everyone!
What's great about it: easy, clear instructions, simple interface
What's not so great: none that I can think of!

Recommend Turbo tax as a rather safe way to file your own taxes, although the hours tax providers have to sit in seminars each year could render many new insights. If I could even if I prepare taxes for others, I would hire someone to check over my own.
What's great about it: Great for skipping through using forms only
What's not so great: The interview is cumbersome, so I skip it.

2014 Turbo Tax

Difficulty navigating thru the College Education Tuition/Fees section. The 1098-T provided was not complete, and therefor the turbo tax instructions were difficult. Which costs were deductible (tuition/fees/class fees) were not clear. Need an itemized school bill for some of the costs.
RI Motor Vehicle and Trailer Excise Tax is determined by using the "N.A.D.A Used Car Guide and other recognized pricing guides". It is clear that the property tax paid in RI is based on the value of the car, but turbo tax will not allow this itemized deduction.

Deluxe version

You should never have even thought of changing the Deluxe version ability to handle capital gains, etc. The customer received less value with Turbo Tax this year. Many people are very irrittated with that decision despite the free upgrade.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Capital gains no longer calculable

I have been using Turbo tax to do my taxes for several years. I don't like the fact that "BASIC" is no longer available. I do my state online, I just need the standard with deductions for a home, etc. Very disappointed in that but as far as Turbo Tax software goes, I love it. Other wise I wouldn't have been coming back for the past 14 years.
The ONLY issue I have with the software is when importing a W2 I don't get a chance to re-enter the control number. Should be a retry button. It takes me away from the screen and I can't find the import W2 screen again. This drives me crazy every year. My W2 control number isn't like the example in the software but eventually works but I have to ADD a new W2 to get to the import screen. Now I have to go back and delete the second one.
What's great about it: walks me through every step
What's not so great: the price doubled this year
