Turbo Tax is getting a bad rap. I believe it is back to the reliable TT I have used for 20 years!
What's great about it: Mostly it was very easy to use even though my prior year's information wasn't available.
What's not so great: Got a bit bogged down in transferring 401k to IRA info, but that was minor

Deluxe continued to cover all the areas I needed.
What's great about it: I like the "answer the question" approach for data input.
What's not so great: I had difficulty opening the program after initial installation. I had to de-install ad reinstall.

Great Step by Step

use TT every year and it makes it so easy to use and guarantees you get your max refund. It's step by step tells you which box to put all the info into. Always will use this software.

NY property tax freeze credit?

Very confusing the way it handled the NY property tax freeze credit. At first I subtracted it from the amount of property tax paid that I entered while doing the federal return. But in NY state return it asked how much credit we got back (presumably meaning it would subtract that from the amount paid) so I had to go back to the federal return and adjust the taxes paid amount.
What's great about it: Imported all our W2 data, saved lots of typing

I have used TurboTax for many years and this year I was a little skeptical with the security fraud surrounding Turbo Tax. I am still using them, knowing that they are fully secure. My taxes this year, as every year prior, take less than an hour to complete, even with several deductions.
What's great about it: Quick, easy, and walks me through every possible deduction
What's not so great: Nothing
