2014 TurboTax Experience

For years I have found Turbotax easy to use. However this year seemed a bit different when filing both returns. As long as I wanted to "e-file" both returns (and pay the fee for the State Return), it is easy..... To e-file the Federal Return and Mail the State return instead of paying that fee, the Turbo Tax program made that very difficult... I had to exit the program and go back in so I could get back to the State return to file by mail..... Then the program continued to ask me to e-file that State return anyway... After about 20 minutes, I finally got the printed copies to mail my State Return.
What's great about it: The Walk Thru Of Each Section
What's not so great: If E-Filing Federal and Mailing State Returns separately

You ask for information the IRS doesn't require (RE certain medical expenses). And the contribution fields for charitable contributions don't match the categories defined by the IRS (there IS a difference between cash contributions and contributions related to out-of-pocket expenses - and no, these aren't travel expenses).
This had to be one of the most confusing tax prep years to date...
What's not so great: Something changed and not in a good way

Federal E-File was rejected due to incorrect SS#. After reviewing return there was no error with SS# information. Attempted to re-file electronically and it would not allow me to do so. Program continued to state that there was no file to E-File.
What's not so great: Federal E-File was rejected due to incorrect SS#. After reviewing return there was no error with the SS#.Tried to re-fie

The overall process of doing the step by step procedure is very time comsuming if there is a way to shorten the time it takes by adding information automatically from previous years. I have been using TurboTax for a number of years now and have been quite satified with the product.
What's great about it: The Step by Step process was very helpful
What's not so great: carry over info from last years tax would be helpful
