Without Turbo Tax, we'd all be filing TURTLE TAX!

I've been using Turbo Tax since 1996. Even with gathering all the massive required documents (for just a simple family return), it still takes a while because each year the tax law changes and I find you may have questions. But TT has a question in a circle button for "what does this mean" on every line you submit a number. You learn a lot more about the tax code. And since it grows more weary and complex each year, it's nice to have a very INTUIT-IVE program to walk you thru the steps. Best part: It does the math. Can you imagine how many hours it would take if you had to fill out the forms by hand like we did a few decades ago and slave over a calculator hunched over until 3 am for weeks on end??? It's not even possible to do your taxes anymore without either Turbo Tax or a professional tax preparer. Good for Intuit, but bad for Americans. We need a better way!
What's great about it: LIghtening fast, especially supporting forms!
What's not so great: Hey, you're still dealing with the IRS right. Every year gets more complicated!

TurboTax is Spectacular!

I've been using TurboTax to prepare my returns for at least 15 years and I couldn't be more pleased.
It is excellent software, easy to use and INTUITive!

Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax 2014 Review

Like a lot of software, TurboTax seems easier to use when you have used it before. I do like the comments telling you when options are uncommon or don't apply to most filers. I would like the IRA portion to improve. You plug in a guess for a traditional IRA deduction, then wait for some calculations to report you can't deduct that much. At that point, it would be nice to immediately have the option of putting the balance in a non-deductible Roth. I got quite a few steps away and had to hit the back button several times to figure out where to do the Roth. It might be my misunderstanding that leads to this little hiccup but last year I got confused and missed the Roth option altogether. Anyway, this is decent tax software.
What's great about it: Covers all forms if you aren't sure what you need; can skip things you know you don't need.
What's not so great: The IRA process could be better.

Up Grade & Where does the IRS IP PIN on E file

Filling out the Turbo Tax for E-File was straight forward and easy to follow. I did not see or find where to type my IRS IP PIN number when I filed my return by internet. The return was rejected for not having issued IRS IP PIN number on the return. After spending about a hour on the telephone with a delightful employee, I decided to mail the tax return for 2014. I did mail my return last year also, for the same reason - unable to find where to type the IRS IP PIN number on the form for E-File.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is easy to use.
What's not so great: Had to call to get up grade for free.
