Great piece of software

Good piece of software that found a good number of deductions for me. It easily organized all of my statements that I inputted into the program and took care of all the calculations. I like being able to print out the forms to keep for my records and save a digital PDF copy as well.
What's great about it: It is easy and finds a lot of deductions
What's not so great: Some things do not have a lot of explanation and left me searching for answers or further info online.

Tax review

The basic tax process is simple and easy to use. However, trying to print the return is AWFUL! I don't understand why you don't provide a simple print return option. I fight with it every year, when you provide the option to review and print, you should be able to review and print. When I click on that option, it does not take me to either option, all it wants to do is save and then takes me out of the program, so your option does neither. It would be helpful if your review and print option actually worked.
What's not so great: Trying to print return is like jumping through hoops

as one would expect, no surprises. easy to follow for non-tax or accounting types. fosters a high degree of confidence in the integrity of the product.
What's great about it: essentially the product you know, and feel it will do the job
What's not so great: year over year I grow ever more resentful of having to pay for state tax e-file

I have used Turbo Tax for over 15 years. It is a great program it makes it easy. I just wish they hadn't split up all the categories this year. We have filed long form for years and this year the price to purchase doubled from last year.
What's great about it: Great program I have been using 16 years
What's not so great: They raised the price for long form almost double

Dave's Review of TurboTax Deluxe 2014
on February 6, 2015

I've used TTax since 2009 on this PC, probably on a Windows ME machine before that. I'll use it again next year.
There doesn't seem to be a really clear path to describe donations in which you purchase something new specifically for that charity. I'm active in my church and have a couple of responsible volunteer positions. When I buy business equipment for the church and donate it, there is no clear way to say I purchased this new for the church, gave it to them immediately, and there was zero depreciation because of immediate turnover and I don't have a business. I have to get around it by stating "Purchased for.." in the item description, valuing it by "Present Value" and explicitly entering "0" depreciation - twice - . If the popup menu included "Purchased for charity" as an option, it would be much simpler and clearer for me. Also, the depreciation questions would go away. As it is, I have to relearn this every year....
I'd really like to see this simplification.
What's great about it: thorough, fast, and I know there are no arithmetic errors
What's not so great: Charitable donations need clarification
