Have used turbo tax for many, many years and have been very well pleased, but this year I read that we may have to purchase an upgrade if we needed, ( I believe it was schedule c) for our returns. This should have been stated upfront before purchasing any of the turbo tax programs. That seems to me to be a little underhanded and I'm not sure if I'll use the program again. I like knowing these things before going into a program purchase and not having to be blindsided after the fact.
What's great about it: worked well but the state tax forms are somewhat confusing
What's not so great: getting a little pricey

Easy to do.

Should be cheaper. Especially for return customers. We have been doing this with you for 15 -18 years. Maybe after every 5 years you could send us a free copy (via download) to repeat customers.
What's great about it: We have done this many times now, so seens easy. So far, so good.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

RMD confusion

The section on RMD is confusing, incomplete, and lacking. If you are retired and on a defined benefit pension plan there is no RMD requirement but that isn't even mentioned.

So Easy

Didn't need to leave home, could work on it as info arrived, and in small doses! Sure is less expensive than former "tax guy" as my life has become less complicated.
What's great about it: Explained everything clearly.
What's not so great: For whatever reason didn't transport last year's info.

Good but a bit expensive for what I need

I have been using turbo tax for a few years I find it does a good job I don't have many deductions so I generally just take the standard deduction. Seems a bit expensive for the purpose. For me it is just an expensive Calculator to keep me from making a costly mistake and saves me the trouble of filling out the forms by hand.
What's great about it: Easy Input of information
What's not so great: Many sites will do it for free and charge only for the state filing

Lowers my taxes

When you have the personal data preloaded each year and the same incomes and deductions already in the form then the newest data is a breeze. The greatest time used up was for the state form payment. The E-file gets easier and easier.
I still pay taxes each year but the amounts are so low that I can pay them right after filing.

no internet connection

Everything went great, but when I went to pay to file my state return it wouldn't connect to the internet, even though I had a good connection. Other than that it worked flawlessly.
What's great about it: simple to use. asks all the right questions
