The whole process of generating the returns (federal and state) was easy and straight forward.
However, the closing and filing was convoluted since I wanted to E-File the federal return and needed the state return on paper so that I can use the state web site to E-File the state return. I was able to do it but had to go through the complete federal E-File process and then start over to get the state return on paper.
I split the process since the state web site is free (thus the filing through Turbo Tax is an unnecessary expense), the state web site is easy to use, and past experience has shown that the state process yields a slightly different result than the result generated by Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Easy Guidance for Copmpleting The Return
What's not so great: The Close Out and Filing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Missing proper programing

The TurboTax programs in the past were very helpful and accurate. This years programs as, from what I have experienced and heard, has many problems that should have been fixed before it was marketed. The deluxe package leaves a lot to be fixed before it will be as good as others. I will use another brand next year so I am given all that is promised.
What's great about it: it is quick when properly packaged
What's not so great: paid for federal taxes and 1 state tax, cannot get free state tax filing as listed on package

turbo tax online

first time i used ttax online and i was real impressed on how easy it was to use. Also, free state efiling? Awesome Intuit!! I've used turbotax for many years, but decided last year to use different software. Will never do that again!

I purchased a new computer with the Windows 8 operating system. I went to your web site asking the following question: "How do I move my tax data file to another computer?" I followed the instructions to copy my data file from the old computer to my new computer's desktop. The 2014 Turbo Tax software would not download my data file causing me to lose all my history which was several years.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Unable to download prior year to Windows 8

What Happened?

I have always used Basic, which I again purchased this year. After loading it into my computer, I found that it did not have the FORMS capability that it has had for the 20+ years that I have been using TURBO TAX. I then had to purchase the Deluxe edition to regain this capability.
What's great about it: Free e-filing, error check
What's not so great: First bought Basic, then had to buy deluxe
