For years I have used TurboTax with excellent results. What used to take me 4 hours to do with schedules and calculators is built into a 1 hour smooth tax experience. I hardly consider myself a tax expert, but the clarity of TurboTax's steps and explanations make doing taxes a good experience. The ability to save the return you are working on until you receive necessary forms from institutions is a huge help.
What's great about it: Walked me through stpes in simple,concise steps - clarity of explanations available at each step along the way.
What's not so great: If low likelihood of audit, don't try to sell me professional audit support.

Use this every year without a problem --over more than past 10 years! Used through marriage, new home purchase, college, kids, deductions -- always EASY and FAST!

Fast and simple

I trust TurboTax as well as my father. My father has been using TurboTax for years and he is no dummy. I realized that if TurboTax can handle his complicated returns, it could quite easily take care of my return as well.
In addition, and maybe I shouldn't say this, my father is not very good with technology. Turbo tax was written and developed in a way that was friendly to "non-tech" individuals. He never would have kept using TurboTax if it wasn't easy and simple to use.
What's great about it: Easy to use software allowed me to complete my tax returns quickly and with confidence.
What's not so great: There were no problems other than the ones TurboTax found and helped me fix.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

make changes to help explain errors and how to solve errors

What's not so great: it didn't clear help me understand my mistake, also one free file which once done it charges

Would like better answers for transportation, oil and gas industry. For example I take the standard deduction for meals but I cannot find a standard deduction for lodging although there are references to such. I am am not a great record keeper.
Also for me being able to see each form filled out as I go along would be very helpful. I am of the age where I use go to the post office or library to get my 1040. It works better for me and my little mind.
