The TurboTax product proved to be easy to use as it has been for the my personal use for over 8 years. The confusion about which product we needed to buy this season caused some stress and grief. I actually completed my return online and transferred the file to a store purchased product to save money. I hope you will be clear next season and offer the same quality product that we have come to expect. I actually purchased two different TurboTax products while waiting for the decisions to be made over which one I would actually need to use this year. One was successfully returned to the store where it was purchased.
What's great about it: Easy to download and use. Great Q&A to guide you through the entire process.
What's not so great: Tough start to the year for TurboTax! Way too much confusion over product choices.

Turbo Tax Making it Easy

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years, and in that time I have been audited three times, and not because of Turbo Tax, but me mistakenly placing the wrong amount in the wrong box, and that is my fault. Furthermore, having a home based business always raises red flags with the IRS. The review audits warned me during the review process of the software, but I pushed the envelope on deductions, and ended up having to pay the IRS from each audit. That is why now on every filing I pay for Audit Defense, It is the most cost effective way for a CPA to represent you in the event of an audit. They will not debate the tax return with the IRS agent, but they will act as a middleman in requesting, and providing the documents necessary to make the audit as painless as possible. It's well worth the money, and you can avoid the stress, and anxiety of having to deal with an IRS agent. It is about time more power was placed in the hands of everyday people trying to deal with the complex tax code. Besides, I think I know better how to keep and spend my money than the government ever will.
What's great about it: Guide Me Thru It
What's not so great: Correct Amounts in The Correct Box's
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

US Citizens abroad demand purchase access.
What's great about it: The software delivers on its promises.
What's not so great: Miserable support for those living abroad. A lot of US Citizens live abroad, and we want to purchase this easily.

Filing taxes is a horrible ordeal especially for middle-class people. Turbo tax makes this horrible experience painless and easy. You gather your documents, load turbo tax, answer the questions and you're done. It's great!

Turbo Tax Desktop is the way to go

Turbo tax is an expert tax preparation software. It is like playing a game. It helps to file the federal as well as the state return. It keeps abreast of the laws by updating each time a tax session is started. It audits both the state and federal return before e-filing. Excellent software.
What's great about it: Self audits.
What's not so great: Cost to file the state tax
