This is not my first time using turbo tax. It is a great tool. Wish I didn't end up paying for filing state tax as the advertisement indicated.
What's great about it: Turbo tax is very easy to use, just fill in the blanks.
What's not so great: not applicable
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Last Minute Panic (with NO help)

I trust Turbo Tax but this automation without explination is really not helpful...
down to the wire on meeting the deadline then found things wrong that are not explained...
deductions too automated and once past can't "See" other levels.. like business expenses #we were required to wear specific shirts and pressed, particular shoes but no option to add them.
cost of preperation of taxes not available for deduction.
Added a Penalty of $6 to my taxes due and could NOT get around it and could NOT talk to a person... We'll read your question and some time in the FUTURE we'll send you an email... (with one day to get the correction is NOT acceptable.#
I STILL have 8 hours to get an POST MARK on my return but can't get a person to talk to because you're busy!!!
What's great about it: intuitive... OK! complete ??
What's not so great: Hidden Options, no explination on PENALTY Charges with no reason????

It was as OK as usual, with a MAJOR HICKUP

I started my return in January. I put it away until April, updated it on opening, and discovered I couldn't open my file. I had, as recommended, password protected the file. Somehow, the email address attached to the file was incorrect (missing a "4" in the address.) This meant that I couldn't "confirm" my identity: apparently, there was a data breatch at Intuit, and they inserted into the program instructions to confirm my identity by emailing a code to me, BUT THE EMAIL ADDRESS WAS WRONG! So I lost all that work.... Very disappointing, no love from Intuit. I'll look elsewhere (H&R) for help next year.... Too bad, I've used TT for ~ 10 years.
What's great about it: Was able to use most of last years return, and I was familiar with it
What's not so great: I Worked on my file for ~ 10 hours, our it away, and couldn't recover the work.

Paying Alot Less With TurboTax!!

This was the first time we used Turbo Tax. We've always paid a tax accountant to do our taxes, which basically, aren't too complicated. Turbo Tax had all of the questions I may have had, within each screen I was completing. I loved the step-by-step process in order to gain all of the deductions I was entitled to. Our tax accountant never asked those same specific questions and unfortunately, that has probably cost us more in taxes these past years. Love this product!
What's great about it: Because of the step-by-step guides indicating deductions I can complete. Very thorough.
What's not so great: Nothing negative to comment on.

Overall, very good. Suggest you offer a filing system that describes what to save and a location that is centralized for easy access.
What's great about it: Thorough
What's not so great: Would be helpful to show where to find information that is not included on government forms.
