Something is missing...

So, perhaps there is a problem with Windows 8.1, but when I tried to look at the forms they said I MUST print out and mail, it opened something and gave me a blank page. I have no idea what I'm supposed to print out and mail. Maybe it's a PDF, maybe it's a tax form of some kind...no idea. It appears to be something automated in the software, trying to open another program. Could it be Adobe Reader? Maybe. It doesn't say. I sure hope I can open that file that was saved somehow. And I hope it doesn't need to be mailed by tomorrow.
What's great about it: Overall software seems to work well.
What's not so great: Forms come out blank?

Turbo Tax Pulled It Out In The End

I've used Turbo Tax for many years and was very disappointed to think I would have to upgrade to get the same forms as previous years. However, before I prepared my taxes, Turbo Tax offered a solution that I was happy with. I would have given Turbo Tax a very low rating if this had not been resolved.
The only thing I found a little more difficult this year was getting forms to open. If I went to the forms tab on the top of the page, everything was usually grayed out. I finally found a small icon in the corner that allowed me to open the form I wanted.
Overall, I would not do my taxes any other way.

What's great about it: good explaination of what to enter where
What's not so great: Didn't like the changes made to versions when released, but was corrected.

Spouse Occupation Has Too Many Characters

Experienced a lot of trouble this year with NYS.. Review threw bogus "IT-201 Page 3-4: Spouse Occupation Has Too Many Characters" which was not the case. As this was a partial NYS residence situation IT-201 was not even used. Instead it was IT-203. Very poor coverage for this one. Eventually went into IT-203 Forms and played around with full-time / part-time residence check boxes after which Review for NYS ran without error.

What's not so great: Misleading Diagnosis, Insufficient Cause Analysis

Filing Made Easier

Turbo Tax Deluxe, helped us get through the nightmare that is usually tax time, with ease. Step by Step, you are not left hanging or wondering. Plenty of Help along the way. What can often seem overwhelming and complicated is made much easier with Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Ease of moving through program
What's not so great: None come to mind this year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I count myself among the folks who are mega-stressed by tax time. I'm comfortable with numbers; I just don't play in the tax law and terminology pond except for this annual foray. This year I should have known it would be a challenge when I couldn't even figure out which version to buy in the new and updated packaging and title system. Granted, I'm filing at the eleventh hour, but I still feel that I went in circles more often than I felt definitively on target for my choices. I started at 8:00 tonight and it is now almost 1:00am. I'm tired and cranky. This is still better than having to navigate all the forms and laws without guidance. So, six of one, half dozen of another...I'm still grateful for the help.
What's great about it: Having my information preloaded from last year!
What's not so great: Eventually I got most of my information. I often felt like I was going in circles and ultimately gave up on some parts

I reeeeeeally like Turbotax. I'm a techie and I appreciate good code, and this is good code. Thanks again for a successful tax season. Of course this would all be a moot point if the Gov would allow us all to just pay a flat 5% lol.
What's great about it: Super Software; kudos to the programming staff
What's not so great: I should have started earlier as reading the info took time ;-)
