Mostly All Good

Basically very good. But if I can file the Federal for no cost, why can't I file my state for no cost?
What's great about it: It was very step by step and guidance was good
What's not so great: When it came to asking me for my Property Tax PIN and my Efiling PIN, I really didn't know where to go for that.

A few things like: what to do with a 1099 B are practically impossible to find a place to put & the instructions don't get you there. I only stumbled on a place to report, what may be for me, a one off report, by reading 6 or 8 FAQs. And no it wouldn't have been worth buying your more expensive bit just to report an amount paid because an insurance co. bartered itself into a stock company and gave me a small compensation.
What's great about it: Does a lot of arithmatick for you
What's not so great: A couple of spots where what I have to report doesn't fit.

Overall a great experience. Spent a fraction of what I paid my accountant but my tax situation is a bit simpler now. Not sure how it will handle complex tax situations like investment income or other a-typical income sources. Still, it's guided experience is very good.
What's great about it: Walks you through, Good explanations, Checks your entries
What's not so great: Byzantine tax code still befuddling, Must gather lots of data beforehand

Superior Customer Service

Customer service rep helped me migrate from Home + Business to Home Deluxe.
What's great about it: Great customer service rep who went above and beyond to help me.
What's not so great: No user friendly way of doing it on my own. Had to call in for support.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

My Wallet Stings

Nice look and feel. Good instructions. Would like better integration from state to state... Would like it to decide if I can save by filing separately/married. It did not consider factors like differences in income that might have saved. It took me a lot of effort to slog through two more tax filings to discover that it was better to file jointly but a program could have asked a very few questions and told me that.
What's great about it: Like the way it walks you through takes with good questions.
What's not so great: Costly to add a state! Would like it to be better about finding the best filing status (married filing seperately...)
