Great until you have something unusual

We hosted a foreign exchange student through a civic group. TurboTax never prompted us--if the organization had not told me we could deduct part of the expenses of housing, transportation, food, etc., I would have missed this deduction (we were not paid to host). When I searched for help on Turbo Tax, there was little to no assistance. It told me we could deduct, but did not give much guidance on how or where to enter the information. Also, they push their "partners"/other services. Other options exist for a lower cost payment of taxes with a credit card, but I couldn't figure out how to e-file and choose another payment agency. Turbo Tax didn't offer assistance, other than to direct me to another website.
What's great about it: Nice integration with "It's Deductible"
What's not so great: When you have something unusual, the "help" is circular

Very easy to use!

Been using TurboTax for years and love the ease of use. Adds great confidence that all categories of income and deductions were addressed. However, this year I bought a motorhome, and the interest on the loan is tax-deductible, like a second mortgage. I knew that and claimed it, but it would have been reassuring if TurboTax had mentioned it in the appropriate section, too. It makes me wonder if there is any more I could have claimed elsewhere. Overall, though, TurboTax give me a good sense of completeness.
What's great about it: Simple step-by-step of all categories of income, deductions, etc
What's not so great: Failed to mention the RV loan interest deduction

Best Tax filing experience yet

I have been filing with Turbo Tax for 15 years, except one year where I used a different tax software. This is the best yet for Turbo Tax - it was very quick and easy and the process was more clear than ever before. Our Married Filing Jointly with dependants and a house isn't too complicated - nevertheless, TT made it easy. I highly recommend it.
What's great about it: Very clear and concise walk-thru of completing the returns
What's not so great: None - it was terrific

Going downhill last few years

As per usual, the program costs too much in the stores, and tries to sell you stuff all through the process. But it does what it says it does. It files all the forms I've ever needed, maps over from QuickBooks, It'sDeductible and last year's return. It didn't map two individual returns into one married filing joint for this year, which would be a HUGE improvement, and doesn't find all my institutional forms (1099's and W-2s). It also seems to get harder each year to find the right place to enter a deduction when you already have the info and know it needs entering.
What's great about it: It's TT, if it's not the industry standard, it should be
What's not so great: Seems to get less friendly every year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Misery

TurboTax performed well in the past. This year, however, was lousy. Nothing much changed on our return, but the program struggled every step of the way. It arbitrarily dropped our child and created all sorts of havoc. And it cost a lot more this year. Won't be buying it next year.

I always liked using Turbo Tax. My sister turned me onto using Turbo Tax years ago. That was when I did the 1040 by hand and mailed it in.
What's great about it: Walking me through everything. Checking for errors.

would recommend especially if your accountant charges too much for a small return. why pay someone over half of what you expect in a return.
What's great about it: easy to use. asked more questions than previous accountants.
What's not so great: not enough info on hsa issues
