Not as bad as I thought it would be

TurboTax is easy to use and very user friendly when you have to go back or edit something. The only thing that bugs me is all the extra cost for different things at the end
What's great about it: easy going step by step
What's not so great: all the extra cost at the end
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Always improving year to year and becoming easier to use. The constant change of tax law is what is so disruptive.
What's great about it: Done in near record time(for me)
What's not so great: It proved that it is so easy an idiot can do it.

Have used Turbo Tax for several years. Really like the ease of use and the carryover of my information from previous tax returns.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I am very disappointed

I remember when this was Chipsoft and I could (and I did) call customer support and we made this product better (I sold and bought two houses in two different states, etc).
1) my Maryland Form 505 should have had an entry (line 1) calculated and put in to the form. I did not know what Line 1 should be. There are no definitions in the state of Maryland web site and I found that there is no context-sensitive help in Turbotax. That is a shame for this product. This product should be very mature by now. I hope I got that entry correct but am unwilling to pay for legal support if it iI was wrong. Turbotax failed me here.
2) there are terms that are used but could not be found within the program - e.g., what is "adjustments to income?" What does that mean? It is ridiculous that this program uses terms it apparently does not know, and again, leaves the customer clueless.
I am very disappointed
What's great about it: it was faster than doing this by hand
What's not so great: It lacked context-sensitive help, and online customer-provided help does not equal customer support

I didn't see an opportunity to check yes on the public financing of the presidential campaign and I didn't see an easy way to correct a misspelling on charitable contributions, only for correcting a dollar amount.
What's great about it: generally, Easy to use
What's not so great: Should have easy way to check for presidential campaign fund

I've been using Turbo Tax since the mid 90's. I like it because it's usually step by step, and it helps keep the paper clutter and erasing to a minimum. But it is unclear sometimes, and then you have to start hunting for more information. Anything that is out of the ordinary is not Turbo Taxes' strong suite. It's pretty good; i just think it could be better.
There is one thing that really bothers me. For the State return, it often makes you re-enter information you already put into the Federal return. Why doesn't it just import the information from the Federal return?
What's great about it: Neat and organized.
What's not so great: Doesn't always cover all the bases.
