It would be better to add the feature of double checking or reviewing name, address, SSN, DOB before pressing the transit of e-file as a triple check=), thanks
What's great about it: easy and convenient
What's not so great: no general review
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Overall I continue to see TurboTax as a very good product. It saves me time and money. It helps me feel confident that my taxes are done correctly and that my chances of audit are low.
What's not so great: I did not like the transition from Federal to State.

One Again No Tax Preparation Horrors
on April 14, 2015

Preparing my taxes used to be a 3-4 day nightmare. My wife would literally leave for those 3-4 days. Then 20 years ago I found Turbo Tax. Since then tax preparation has been a tolerable one day process. Of course I make sure that I have filed all of the documents I will need for preparation in one easily retrievable spot throughout the year. I grab them, load up Turbo Tax,retrieve the updates and follow the simple interview process. After all of these years many of these steps are the same so it does help save time due to familiarity. From year-to-year I find little glitches but nothing big. This year the option to upload data from my financial institutions did not pop up where I expected. Rather than spend an unknown amount of time to hunt it down, I entered the data manually. Took about thirty extra minutes to enter the data. I finally found where I could have downloaded it. It's just that the placement of that option was not as logical as it has been in the past. Also when I reviewed my return for errors it said I had no errors. But when I tried to E-file Turbo Tax said their were errors and I had to re-check the return and indeed four errors appeared. Not a big deal but just an item that kept me from rating my experience as perfect.
I have used Turbo Tax Deluxe since it's inception. I had heard all of the negative publicity early on about it no longer being good for filing certain financial data. I don't know what exactly was missing initially, but with the updates it was not an issue (unless that was related to my inability to easily locate the financial institution data download).
One other upside. I switched this year from a Windows based computer where I had prepared all of my previous tax returns to an iMac. I was concerned that I would lose the ability to import the 2013 tax data into this years return prepared on the iMac. One call to Intuit and they explained that I simply needed to save the 2013 tax data file to a flash drive and upload it from the flash drive into the 2014 Turbo Tax program on my iMac when asked where to retrieve the previous return information from.
Not a perfect experience but once again close enough to perfect for me!
What's great about it: Easy to prepare, straight forward interview process makes mistakes less likely, improved charitable contributions
What's not so great: First error check did not catch existing errors in return, place to upload financial institution data not clearly shown

IP PIN entry not on Step by Step mode
on April 14, 2015

TurboTax is generally great! I especially like filiing electronically, however, last year I filed via mail due to problems with the IP PIN. This year, I was able to locate the entry block for the IP PIN and entered it after initial rejections by the IRS. A prompt for the entry of the IP PIN would be extremely helpful and should be included along with greater Identity Theft protections and countermeasures.
What's great about it: Have used TurboTax for years and have always found it to be very user friendly. Its ease of use and prompts are great!
What's not so great: Reference the IP PIN: Filling in the forms via Step by Step does not include a prompt for entering the IP PIN.

Super simple!

I had purchased the basic as usual and it did not have deductions/itemization, was required to update to deluxe version. Once I had the proper software all went extremely well. Also took care of the new health requirements, very simply. I have used Turbo Tax for years, this was the easiest version so far.
What's great about it: Easy to work with, answers all the question I had.
