All in all, not too bad. Been using Turbo tax for years. Much better than Tax Act.
What's great about it: Fairly easy
What's not so great: Foreign tax paid section was confusing

Last year I used Turbo Tax to file my taxes. After using a CPA and paying a lot of money for over 20 years, this is the way to go. I had a bit more work to collect and enter everything, but it resulted in a significant savings. This was my second year using Turbo Tax, and it will not be my last! This is a great program and method of dealing with annual taxes.
What's great about it: Easy to import last years info.
What's not so great: Having to pay an additional fee to file my state taxes.

disappointing changes

Have used TurboTax for years and been very pleased. This new version is glitchy and jumps past areas you need to complete. Only if you go back yourself or it catches it in the review because you entered date in previous years do you get to enter the needed data. This new version does not give you the level of confidence the previous versions did. Just hope the filing is correct!
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: jumps past segments you need to complete
Pros: I moved

disliked doing taxes...again

TurboTax is what you would expect from any other tax preparation software. and using TurboTax year after year, you would think the process would have dulled the pain. it hasn't. for the most part i used the online version, which in my opinion is more convenient. but this year online made me 'upgrade', and use the desktop version. and i have always had my previous years saved online, but now i am having to reenter all my info. not fun at all! i did previously mention i dislike doing my taxes, right? lastly, if people are going to always look for a better deal, and not have to hunt for the most inexpensive option, why not have a free software on the desktop, that get periodically updated, like Chrome, and offer that to your customers (or charge them if need be for premium services). the point is to have a static software that can do everything online can do, but without the headache of bouncing from online to desktop, or vice versa year after year.
What's great about it: i enjoyed that this program was as simple to use as online
What's not so great: i didn't like that i couldn't use online and i had to manually reenter everyting on the desktop version.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Not enough detail??
on April 13, 2015

I have used TurboTax for years and have found it helpful & comprehensive. However, I find this year's (2014) return lacking in the level of detail and info available regarding the IP PIN and the ACA (health care)…esp. as it relates to having a qualified relative as a dependent. There may be several different members of the family with health care insurance being provided from different sources. There is (or it did not seem obvious to me) no identifying the specific source of health insurance with a specific dependent.
What's great about it: I like TurboTax, but...
What's not so great: Not enough info on IP PIN & ACA

Overall easy to enter information and very quick running calculation of taxes due.
Very disappointed that Turbo Tax charges you for state filing before checking to see if your return is eligible.
What's great about it: Ease of entering information
What's not so great: Turbo Tax charges you for state filing before they check to see if your return is eligible for e-file
