Crashed Often!
on April 11, 2015

Unlike previous years, this year's Turbo Tax crashed frequently.
What's great about it: Content was good.
What's not so great: Performance was bad. Crashed frequently.

Just What I Expected

I have used TurboTax since before Intuit took it over from Parsons and since I loved the Parsons version I was a little worried that Intuit would not keep it up but they have exceeded my expectations by a lot. I plan to continue with TurboTax for the indefinite future, as long as they keep the product simple and affordable.
What's great about it: Easy question and answer format.
What's not so great: printed my 2013 returns to PDF file and deleted the 2013Turbotax files, couldn't transfer my personal info into my 2014

Hmmmm

I felt let down this year. I found myself having to go around the software to achieve what I needed and getting off the step by step to be able to backtrack and delete some forms created in error.
What's great about it: Familiarity
What's not so great: Not so familiar, changes that are cumbersome and confusing

Helped Me Like a Friend!

I like how the process is very seamless. You follow a route that is designed like you are speaking with someone.
Of course, if you've kept all your necessary tax forms and mail in one place you're all set. Suggestion, as you receive tax related items in the mail, mark the envelope with what it is: W-2 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, etc. Keep all your receipts if you need to calculate expenses, in one place, etc. In general, good housekeeping helps.
I was told that I was entitled to a social security tax refund, and I didn't see it listed anywhere. But when I checked the 1040 form, I saw that it was included on that form and was part of the calculation of how much tax I paid - so that the SS refund was included in my overall Federal Income Tax refund.
I also worked in more than one state, and the way that I was asked to fill in State data in one State's return BEFORE I had completed the other one. Suggestion: force the first state return to always be the resident state.
What's great about it: Great User Interface - with almost perfect work flow logic
What's not so great: Filing due to multiple states you've worked in is a little bit clunky
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

No refund for me

I've used Turbo Tax for years. It's easy, user friendly and I can do it in bits and pieces after my kids are in bed. I have piece of mind knowing that my audit risk is low and my documents have been checked for errors.
What's great about it: easy to use, can add info as you get it in pieces
What's not so great: some items I had to reenter if I changed between tabs

Turbotax 2015

I have used Turbotax for years and MAY use it again next year. However, identity theft is a concern; when I attempted to use an IRS assigned pin due to identity theft Turbotax did not accept it and then took me to an unknown site - appearing to me as if my information was compromised, although I am not certain. Not a comforting experience. Great program up until this experience.
What's great about it: Easy to use, user friendly, easy to navigate
What's not so great: Did not allow me to enter A pin directly assigned to me by IRS due to identity theft and Turbotax would not accept

Turbo Tax 2014

Very disappointed in how they try to trick you into paying for the State E-File. Recommend to E-file both returns together
and then charge you when you are all done. No mention of this charge before you start. IL. allows FREE E-File on their site,
but Turbo Tax wants you to pay.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Try to Charge for EFile of State Tax Refund

i have used TurboTax for a decade and love it.
What's great about it: easy and very user friendly
What's not so great: as with all taxes there are terms that are at times unclear, but that is our government, NOT turbotax
Pros: I moved
