Unsecure Filing

A good friend told me that all of his personal information was hacked through a TurboTax transaction. I am very apprehensive about using the e-file feature and will probably opt for the printed filing next year. The overall format is easy to use for personal tax preparation but I believe without some encryption system, the program is doomed.
What's great about it: All questions asked for complete return
What's not so great: Costs for e-filing should be included on CD packaging

What's great about it: We CAN do it ourselves
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I've used TurboTax for the past 10 years without difficulty. It prompts for changing events that impact your overall year that you may overlook. Helps to monitor year to year changes in income, life changing events, automatic comparisons with previous filings and easy access for reference information. Reviews and updates for tax changes you may not be aware will impact your information and assists in keeping your data current.
What's great about it: Easy, thorough - remembers things I may forget

I will continue to use Turbo Tax and I hope next year some of the quirks will be fixed. I would like to see a copy of Schedule A to show my actual deductions and a better explanation of estimated taxes.
What's great about it: As usual, the majority of the forms were easy to follow.
What's not so great: Some forms were difficult to understand; i.e. estimated taxes.

I have been using this product I believe since it came out. That paper forms were a nightmare. I feel its very versatile, you have choices on how you want to do the return. Also there is so much information available if not from the program itself but it will even give you the IRS forms, instructions and information. So there is always help when you need it. I feel this is a program for both amitures to seasoned tax preparer. I used another program that is out there one year I went straight back to TurboTax the next year. I don't feel there is any program that is better for those who choose to do there own taxes.
What's great about it: This program is set up for any level user.
What's not so great: I would like to see a bit more clarity about the medical deductions.
