As Always, Turbo Tax Does It Right
on April 8, 2015

I've been Turbo Tax for years because it works perfectly and walks you thru the return so you can't miss a step. Took me about 3 hours to walk thru my Federal Return and then do the Georgia State Return. Very easy and painless.
What's great about it: Walks you thru every step
What's not so great: None

Not Happy with the attempt to downgrade Turbo Tax
on April 8, 2015

If you downgrade Turbo Tax Deluxe next year like you planned to do this year and force me to buy a higher priced product, the product that I buy will not be Turbo Tax.
What's not so great: I will not pay more.

I'm worried
on April 8, 2015

My e-returns were rejected. TurboTax said the Feds did not recognize the payer Fed ID no., but I rechecked them and they are correct. The state rejected my return because the Feds had not accepted the Fed return. I'm concerned that the returns will not be accepted.

Good return But disappointing process

I enjoyed the process except for the part dealing with charitable contributions. I would like to be able to export my existing list of organizations I make or have made chartibale contributions to from turbotax to an excel spreadsheet so that I can sort them alphabetically and then enter the contribution I have made for each of those charities and then import that back into turbotax. It would make it so much easier to look up those charities from my already existing list in turbotax if they were in alphabetical order and I did not have to visually scan the list loking for each separate charity because my list is not in alphabetical order. And this year you made it so that I could not even print out my list that was imported from 2013 so that I could use that as a tool to collect my information for entry into turbotax. I had to go back to my 2013 return ans software to be able to print out that list and then make hand written notes for charities that were new. Please make it so I can sort my list alphabetically. And don't tell me to use QuickBooks because I don't want to have to buy another complicated piece of software and go through several hours of setting that up to handle my simple need. If you can't do this simple task then maybe I need to look for a different software. Too bad, I have been using yours for over 20 years. Also, I have a unique situation in Kansas where my Federal Retirement income is not subject to Kansas State income tax. This includes distributions from my federal 401K. Since I rolled over my 401K and combined it into a rollover IRA with a rollover from another previous IRA a major portion of that Rolover IRA distribution is nontaxable for KS State Income Tax purposes. You might want to investigate making changes that can capture those situations so I don't have to go back to the KS department of revenue each year to explain why that deduction is in my KS tax return.
What's great about it: liked the guided step by step process
What's not so great: Hate the inability to export the charitable contributions list or to be able to sort it

While doing my child's fed tax returns for 2014, I encountered a problem entering her 1099-misc, it was being categorized differently unlike how it was classified in 2013. So I wasn't sure why it was doing that.
What's great about it: Ease of use
What's not so great: Nothing major
