This was my first time preparing and filing my own taxes. TT took the fear and dread out of the process. In addition, I learned about the process. The one question I had was quickly and politely handled by a representative. This was truly a great experience!!
What's great about it: Easy...even for me!

Disappointed - but still loyal

Ive been a loyal user for at least 8 years. This is the first year that I considered moving to another product for all of the issues that I ran into . I have completed all but one of the family tax returns we are waiting for a 1095-A which prevents me from sending the last of my returns. I had read that it would not be an issue this year but next would carry problems. Yet when i try to go to send through TT it stops me from sending it out. This is just one of many issues that I have dealt with......
What's great about it: still thinking
What's not so great: much slower, missing forms, compatability issues (recieving errors saying not compatible with Windows 8.1

What's great about it: Once I had organized all the data, program ran smoothly and took about an hour

PRIVATE AND PERSONAL

I have been using Turbo Tax since about 1996 and have never had a bad experience. Turbo Tax provides an avenue where I as a layman can do my taxes privately and maintain the integrity of my personal information. There is no need for tax preparation experience. The step-by-step walkthrough allows me to prepare my tax return by supplying my personal information directly to the tax form. NO OTHER PERSON INVOLVED.

What's great about it: I like that my information is imported from my previous return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

very dissapointed

every time I tried to e file it would say program cannot display webpage but every other webpage I tried worked. This went on for three days. so I guess I'll have to mail it in. I've used turbo tax for the last 5 years but i'm aggravated next year I'll check into something else.

For a simple tax reporting year, there are more steps to complete the reporting process. I don't see this as a TurboTax issue, I see it as a US/State Government reporting issue.
What's great about it: Quick, simple, well defined tax reporting procedure.
What's not so great: Price of tax software.

Painless software

I was almost done with my tax returns using TurboTax and experienced a computer crash. My power supply was dead and I had no way of retrieving my tax info and all the work I had just done on my returns. YIKES!!
After unsuccessfully trying to locate a replacement power supply I was in a panic. Only thing left to do is reload TurboTax on my laptop and start all over. *Groan!* I was really dreading the entire process but April 15th is right around the corner so I bit the proverbial bullet and jumped right in. Since there was no prior years of returns saved on this computer I had to enter all personal info manually. So TurboTax walked me through each meticulous step. What a great stroke of luck. As I was walked through the steps I accidentally found additional deductions I had missed using the previous years tax info. It saved me a significant amount on my taxes this year and I actually got a nice refund.
I was in a real pickle but with TurboTax simple, easy to use format I quickly re-did my Fed and State and with a much better view on life in general! I continue to recommend this software to friends and associates.
