Taxes in Retirement

I like the way TurboTax is set-up to handle multiple levels of tax skills - step-by-step, go to sections, and manual input directly to forms. My specific situation is impeded by lack of instruction relative to Parsonage Exclusion from qualifying pension income. Otherwise, I look forward to doing my taxes with TurboTax each year. Generally, the on-line community are quite prompt and helpful.
What's great about it: As difficult as the IRS/congress is prone to make this process - TurboTax takes much of the tedium out of tax filing!
What's not so great: As a retiree, I am disappointed in the lack of guidance on Ministerial Housing Exclusions on pensions.

Turbo Tax Experience

I've been using Turbo Tax for years and I think this method is better than taking it to a tax professional because Turbo Tax steps you through the process and asks the questions and gives you the rules of what you can and can't deduct.
What's great about it: Simple and easy to use.
What's not so great: electronic filing fees are costly

Overall_a good experience

As usual this was a good experience. Having said that, I did have issues regarding the entry of income, reported on a 1099-MISC form. This income came from a 'union disability fund,' and is fully taxable as wages (Line 7 form 1040). When the program asked for information reported on any 1099-Misc forms, the program assumed that this income was the result of a business/self-employment. This status created an entry for self-employment tax credits. Needless to say, I don't want to get started dealing with business taxes /credits. Again, the experience, as a whole, was a positive one.
What's great about it: Generally_love the guided tour
What's not so great: Had issues with 1099-Misc Income
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Disappointed

It took too much work for me to figure out what I needed to do. Customer service seemed like they didn't know what I was talking about. They tried to pass me to another department and lost me. Much too time consuming. DVR routine didn't get me to the right place.
What's not so great: Had to upgrade my computer to accomodate TurboTax this year.
