Proprietarily inconvenient

I find it incredibly inconvenient there is no way to view the information as you are going. For some reason there was a glitch in the software that made me re enter information on one of my W-2's that was already there. Unfortunately, I didn't have any way to search and find it. But what really made me angry is that I have to have an intuit account to encrypt the file on MY computer that has MY information. That is absurd and seems borderline inappropriate, if not legally squeamish. Then, at the end, I have to save it to your cloud. NOT RIGHT!!!! My data, my information, my life. I should be able to save it how I see fit. Ridiculous and I want my money back.
What's great about it: detailed
What's not so great: no way to see what is ahead or go back to a summary and view information that has been or should be posted

Hard to deal with app as compare to previous years

Your 2014 edition was a little hard to navigate as compare to previous years. Got lost in some areas. Hopefully 2015 will be a better user friendly app.
What's not so great: Felt credits and other items were hidden from plain view

What's not so great: given I ended up filing simplw std ded. It cost to much. Should be easier to get rid of business loop.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

Quick, easy and mostly no hidden costs

Let's face it, most people don't want to spend any more time on their taxes than they have to. . . but we all want to get all of the deductions and credits that we are legitimately entitled to get. Turbotax is a good way to achieve that. Now that the hullabaloo about the decreased services offered by the different product types has died down and Turbotax has recalculated and realigned their offerings with those in the 2013 version, I'm happy to return as a customer for these reasons. Do I wish it was easier to see exactly how much I'd be charged for filing federal and state returns? Yes, but I know now to expect the additional *zing* when I'm almost done.
It would be better to fill the forms in directly so I got a true understanding of the tax system (and you can switch to view these when you want), but I do appreciate the fact that I can now spend the rest of my Sunday reading the newspaper and thinking about where I'm going to invest my refund!
What's great about it: Quick, easy way to do your taxes with the least amount of pain
What's not so great: You won't learn the full details of how your deductions, credits and taxes worked without seeing the forms yourself.

Good software

Great software.. I have used turbotax for 12 years now. Some bugs though.
What's great about it: Easy -- no preparation needed
What's not so great: buggy
