What happened to turbo-tax

The program shut down several times on its own and i had to restart. It would restart sections when it was supposed to be finished. It changed my total's the third time it went into e-file.
I deserve my money back this was so BAD.

What's not so great: exited without finishing, restarted sections without being asked

The program kept looking for a state return and kept returning to the home screen. I had to scroll down to the bottom every time I finished a section

I was not able to look carefully at the actual forms to see if there was a mistake. That feature was easy in earlier versions of TT. Information from earlier TT filings was not completely evident when doing this year's work.
The IRS audited last year's forms and found that I should have received a substantially larger return that TT indicated. I was unable to get any help on this year's return.
The transfer of W2 forms was wonderful.

I have been using Turbo Tax since it was Chip Soft in 1989 and the program included 5 5.25" floppy disks and ran in DOS. The lack of the planning feature this year is disappointing. I am a 63 year old mid year early retiree with social security, pension, 401k rollover monthly distributions, and health insurance issues previously handled as pretax. The planning function previously supplied is missed. It would come in handy in determining what withholding I will need to make in order not to overpay or get penalized for underpayment let alone what about Medicare

OK but concerned

The process is easy to work through...maybe too easy.
I have had issues with my return each of the past two years. A different item each year. The first is on me, which is why is still got TurboTax this year.
While I was working on my return, I received notice from the IRS regarding an issue with last year's return. I have 4 kids in college and it has something to do with the accounting of the 525 accounts. I still need to look into the problem.
This will definitely influence what I do next year.
What's great about it: The process is intuitive and easy to work through
What's not so great: Had issues each of the past 2 years

1099Q worksheet

This needs to be fixed in next year software. When QEE is used for education credit, which is $4000, balance of all qualified education expenses should be used in 1099Q worksheet to calculate taxable part of earnings on QTP.

There's no question and answer format for State like there is for Federal.
