2014 Taxes

I had trouble getting my 2015 Estimated taxes done. No vouchers provided for the estimated tax payments, as was provided for my CA taxes. Cumbersome and hard to understand.

still charged for State

I went to file and I was still going to get charged for my filing my state return. It asked to redeem my free state copy. I said yes but had to finish later. I thought the software would keep track that the free copy was for the return that was being prepared. It lost track of it all together.

What's great about it: Quick Easy Information is rolled over from prior year

Tax Code Complex / TurboTax EASY

I dread sitting down to do tax returns even though I have used TurboTax in the past. Intuit has made the process so easy to follow and get to completion - it is by far the best software I have experienced. And I work with and write a lot of different software.
What's great about it: Guided & prompted all the way

First Year I Have Had Difficulty

I rate the program at A-. This is the first year I have had difficulty with any aspect of completing my taxes with Turbo Tax. I could not e-file at all after following all suggestions and scores of attempts. Maybe because I use a Mac.
Further, when security checking was conducted information was asked for from forms with no explanation of what data was needed. I might as well have tried to read the federal instructions if I could get them.
What's great about it: The program takes much of the labor of interpreting federal and state forms and finding what information is required.
What's not so great: This is the first year I have had trouble e-filing or understanding what needs to be fixed.

Great Software!

I am a big fan of TurboTax. I have been using it for more than 20 years. If you've never done your own taxes, I highly recommend it. It's much less expensive than a tax preparation service and it walks you through every step of the way. I even taught my 20-year old daughter and her friend to use it and they found it very easy! Doesn't matter if your tax situation is simple or more complicated, TurboTax walks you through everything, then guarantees that there aren't any mistakes. Just all around awesome!
What's great about it: Easy to follow; plenty of instructions; flexible for both first-time and experienced users
