Problems with state submittal
on April 3, 2015
Posted by: JimNo
I filed my 2013 state tax return as directed by TurboTax, paying an extra fee for this service. In March of 2015 I received a notice from the IRS saying they had not received this return. I will now owe late filing penalties and interest because TurboTax did not file this return.
What's great about it: Easy to fill out forms
What's not so great: My 2013 state return was not filed as claimed by Turbo Tax

When are you going to fix this bug????????
on April 3, 2015
Posted by: sadsac
This is the 3rd or 4th year in a row that I haven't been able to efile my state return because of a defect in your software and I'm wondering if you're ever going to fix it. Every year I have to print and mail my return because I get the same "session time out" error when I try to pay the fee for filing. Getting tired of it. Will probably use someone else's product next year.
What's not so great: Can't efile state tax return

I have been a loyal user of TurboTax since I started doing my own taxes in my early 20's (circa 1990's)... it has made this whole process so much easier and has never let me down... great work Intuit team!

Easy to Follow
on April 3, 2015

After over 15 years of using TurboTax I am very pleased with the user-friendly questions and explanations. In addition, I would like to see a difference between having visited an area but chosen to skip it versus actually answering partially or fully that given area. This will help me determine what's left to be done (and untouched), especially if I jump around.
What's great about it: Buttons logically guide you through the process.
What's not so great: Would like a marker to show me that I have visited an an area but have chosen to skip it.

NM State Forms
on April 3, 2015
Posted by: Eileen18
I had to manually open the the NM 2014 PIT-1 form and input my bank's routing number and account number. in the Refund Express area. This info should have either transferred automatically from my Federal Form, or have been in the "guided through" section to input or update. I notice it wasn't on the form when I printed it the first time -- so had to go back into the program, open the form, update it, then save and print it again. This wasted time, paper, and ink
What's not so great: Bank info not automatically transferred to State Return

Frustrated
on April 3, 2015

I have used TurboTax for many years, but this year I have been extremely frustrated as never before. There is a problem about this "carryover sheet" and the explanation is as clear a mud and no explanation is given in TurboTax. It appears this box should be automatically filled from the information we provide. When you Review this box continues to come up as a error. AND, there is no phone number to reach a Human Being. I am highly disappointed this year. Still waiting to find a way to resolve problem. We need a direct phone number available!!!

Slip ups

We all make missteps. The key is how well we recover from them. This year's Turbotax changes have left me frustrated with Intuit. With over 10 years of loyal usage I have come to expect a higher level of competence.
The changes which appeared to be a downgrade of capabilities within the Deluxe edition (or is it a forced upgrade to a more costly one) were the first issue this year. I appreciate the attempted recovery communications with the reinstatement of some of the 'old' features into the 2014 edition. However, an overall poor impression continues.
In attempting to E-fle I have tried 3 different windows browsers (in order tried)" Firefox, Chrome, Explorer with out success
In searching the website for information only marginal helpful information was presented. For example: when giving the site might not be available information within the program you would assume some statement on the site as to availability might occur. No luck! When inputing on the site the exact statement from the program, you receive a very general response not specific to the statement presented in the software.
I will strongly consider alternative prep software going forward.
What's great about it: Familiar interface from prior years.
What's not so great: Stealth downgrade this year; e-file difficulties
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
