So SIMPLE!

I love the simplicity of the interview, answers and completion. The fact that when I didn't understand a topic, there was always explanations available was excellent!

I could not get the program to print out the forms to file. I had to save as PDF and load a PDF viewer to print the forms.
I have used Turbo Tax for years but I think it is time to try other software.
What's great about it: great for doing taxes
What's not so great: horrible for printing out for filing

Great product

Turbo tax worked better than it has in the past. I usually file earlier than this and have to wait hours sometimes for downloads. I don't know what was different, but that didn't happen this year. It is a very good program. I've been using it for over a decade and love being able to e-file rather than having to mail everything in.
What's great about it: It was pretty seamless this year.
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I filed my taxes!

I used TurboTax this year because it is my first year filing a return in retirement, and wanted some help in doing it right. TurboTax seemed very thorough in its questions, but I probably wouldn't know if it missed something. There were a lot of questions that didn't apply to me, but I guess it has to ask most of these to cover everyone.
I disliked a couple of things about TurboTax. First is the "None of the above" item at the bottom of a lot of the pages. But, some pages have a "No" option instead of "Continue". Moving to the "None" line to click it became more onerous -- why can't you have it pre-clicked as the default? Second is how you navigate through your return. The only way I found is to start at the beginning and repeat the whole entry process, although some of it can be skipped over. I'd like to be able to go didrectly to a section or item. Another alternative would be to go to the forms and click an item there. I could never get a form on the screen -- the only way to see them was the preview or print.
And finally a third dislike. I must have gotten lost somewhere because I only had the option to e-file my state return.
What's great about it: Reasonably easy to use
What's not so great: Very pedantic, must rigorously follow a route, can't easily punch up a specific item.

Easy Peasy

TurboTax is the easiest way to knock out the income taxes for the Fed and state coffers - well worth the small expense to have the program available when it is convenient to work on your taxes. I like being able to go back after a few days and review my inputs to make sure I had not made a mistake or omitted something that may provide a better result.
What's great about it: Simple, straightforward, satisfying

Fast and easy road to max refunds

After I did a little preliminary number crunching and popped the TurboTax disc into my computer, I was able to get both federal and state tax returns done in one afternoon. It had always taken me much longer before. I appreciated the careful step-by-step process and all the helpful info along the way . . . and my wife and I are thrilled by the refunds we will receive.
What's great about it: Thanks to TurboTax, this year is the earliest that I've ever completed my tax returns!
What's not so great: Only that I couldn't eFile, but that's not because of TurboTax.
