My first time filling as a single person in 25 years and I was petrified!!! I put it off until today. Turbotax made it so easy for me to follow and explained everything in detail. I would recommend to friends.
P.S. i had to dig up more information, thank you for not kicking me out after 10 minutes and no pass word to remember.
Thanks!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Fast & Factual

My tax returns are much the same year after year and by reviewing last year's returns I can usually generate the data needed quickly. Once the data is completed the tax return filing goes quickly and smoothly with TurboTax. Been using TT for at least 20 years and never been audited. I'm also an honest citizen. Till death do us part.
What's great about it: Entering Data is easy and supportive. No glitches. Finished in about an hour.
What's not so great: When reviewing my forms for errors or omissions it would be helpful to be more specific what's needed exactly.

Turbo Tax gives you an option to click E-file Free or Mail Federal Taxes. Simple, no problem. When asking what you would like to do for State: Click E-file for a Fee or not now, ask later. I had so much trouble with the State part. I wanted to mail in my State, since Turbo Tax charges a fee. It would not allow me to do so. So I finally had to E-file and pay the fee, to which I am very disappointed with Turbo Tax for making it difficult. Why not have 2 easy questions when filing for State: What would you like to do. E-file (fee) Mail in So I would hope that next year Turbo Tax would make it much easier for the State part.
What's great about it: Free E-file for Federal
What's not so great: Charge E-file for State
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Problems I had last year have been fixed and much smoother operation. Would like more explanation of where some numbers come from when the standard deduction is chosen as opposed to using the entered deductions for medical, gifts, etc.
What's great about it: basically easy to use
What's not so great: some parts are still hard to understand, but not too bad

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 10 years and plan on continuing its use in future years.
What's great about it: Easily understood instructions
What's not so great: Need clearer information on how Turbo will help if audited and you do not purchase Audit Defense.

Even More Quirky than ever

I completed my federal and two state returns, successfully reviewed and checked them, printed them out and saved both as a Turbotax file and a pdf, When I answered some question in the filing section, the program quit. When I opened the saved file, it was nothing like where I was, apparently losing hours of inputs, This in spite of the fact that the pdf version was correct, I will never go Turbotax again
What's great about it: Walks you through everything
What's not so great: Always has issues.

Had problems finding out what Turbo wanted under "Vehicle Value Plate Fee" - Even one CPA I asked didn't know. took to AARP and they figured it out.
Fees are climbing each year. Why should it cost so much more if I tell you to deduct from my refund?
Didn't bother with the "It's Deductable" - Last year it didn't transmit what had been entered.
What's great about it: Pretty easy.
What's not so great: Some problems. Fees have climbed
