Good job

Had to beat around the bush. Not as simple/clear as the rest of the program, but was workable. Minor problem but should have been better.
Would have liked a password for security.
What's great about it: Very easy to follow, simple, straightforward.
What's not so great: Poor presentation on handling Estimated Payments.

EZ for Basic Tax Return

i used Turbo Tax Deluxe and easily completed and e-filed Short Form Federal and State returns. Review/ Error Checking feature a plus.
What's great about it: Simple Step By Step Process
What's not so great: "Help" feature not as helpful as it was in past versions

school district tax entry problem

Finally figured out that i had to enter school district tax amount as a 2nd entry in Box 19 after entering city tax withheld in Box 19. Example: Box 19 $100 (local income tax withheld)
Box 20 (NAME of city)
then enter in next
Box 19 $50 (school district tax withheld)
Box 20 (4 digit # for local school district)
Box 20 (NAME of city)
then enter in next
Box 19 $50 (school district tax withheld)
Box 20 (4 digit # for local school district)
What's great about it: overall easy to enter/navigate
What's not so great: no specific place to enter school district tax

GOOD, BUT SOMETIMES CRYPTIC

I didn't know how to answer questions such as, "Enter the amount of state tax for "JOE" and we'll calculate the remaining for "SALLY." I didn't even know how to break that down easily even after clicking on "help." It would be easier if the "help" would actually give instructions that told you what line number/s on which form to use and how to generate your answer - just like any printed instruction booklet would do. I found myself having to read instructions from states' instruction booklets or use advice from Intuit clients more often than I'd have liked. When I finally had enough, I simply printed out another state form needed and followed the state's instructions for it. I would appreciate the "help" including full instructions including tips on common concerns.
What's great about it: Easy federal e-filing system, very good final checks for errors, nice est paym vouchers
What's not so great: Some unclear questions/directives, can't see form at same time as questions

Comprehensive and reliable

Provides consistent tax return calculations year after year, accounting for multiple incomes, tax-exempt benefits, education credits.
Mysteriously lost a $1000 credit during a re-calculation, then added it back in.
Appreciate the year to year review and comparison to better understand how tax situation is changing.

What's not so great: Fluctuating calculations

it was easy from start to finish. it helped me with questions i would have not known to ask an accountant. I was able to import information and go through the questions with ease and loved how quickly I was able to finish. the audit low/high risk section is a comfort.
What's great about it: fast and efficient
What's not so great: none
