Updates!

Humming along, entering all the data, then the message that updates are needed, but not available yet. You need to let dummies like me know how to save the data and eject the disk from the hard drive, so that updates can be acquired in a timely fashion. It's not always intuitive.
What's great about it: Mostly smooth going.
What's not so great: No good explanation for how to access the updates.

Quick and pretty easy

I got a little lost when the state return started calling me active duty military for the year, when I am an active reservist, not active military. But after going through the process, it finally gave a choice for "national guard" (even though I am a Navy Reservist)
What's great about it: ability to go back!
What's not so great: slightly confused during State filing and active duty vs. reserve status

Easy filing with no third party

I always feel more secure working with TurboTax than going to the main tax preparers. There is no rush, I am walk through the steps, and TurboTax prints the forms for no extra cost.
With the other companies, they feed the customers as fast as they can, and get mad if you ask questions. We been audited when someone else does our taxes because they seem to forget to enter certain forms. With TurboTax I done at home, not only does that do not happen, but we seem to get more money back too.

Great Program

What's great about it: easy, guides you through entire process
What's not so great: When done with section, it returns you at top of deduction list instead of where you left off. Unnecessary scrolling.

Have always liked TurboTax. I have used TurboTax since 2008 and each year it gets easier and better.

best tax outcome not guaranteed with this software

I have been a long-time TurboTax Basic software user. I generally do my taxes by hand first and then use the software mainly as an e-filing vehicle. Prior years' Basic software served my purposes for completing and filing the auxiliary forms/schedules I use. The 2014 year's version of the software forced an automatic upgrade to Deluxe from Basic just to itemize deductions. When I initially balked at this upgrade, my file switched automatically from itemizing deductions to the standard deduction which was a net negative outcome for me. After seeing my file switched to the standard deduction, I then installed the upgrade to Deluxe, however, my return did not automatically switch back to itemizing deductions despite re-entering my deductions. Not until the summary screen was I presented with a manual selection option to go back to itemizing deductions. Very clunky software, not user-friendly, no guarantee of best tax outcome contrary to claims.
What's not so great: poor user interface
