A little lost

Had a few difficult issues this year - settlement of a lawsuit over wages. Then had difficulty getting state taxes to load - still not filed at this point in time
What's great about it: Walked me thru the steps
What's not so great: Switched version of Turbo tax needed so I ended up paying twice
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

The look of TurboTax has changed.

I purchase TurboTax Year after year. WHY??? Because of its consistency. This year the look has changed. Yes it got my taxes finished; but I had issues with the new format. With an ever Descending decision tree layout, why would you Port me to the very Top of the decision tree when the very next topic always appears directly UNDER the last completed topic at the very Bottom of the page? Now scroll down as far as you can go to find the next topic block to enter, walk through this topic, select Finished Key; then, elevator ride to Top Of The Page then you get to Re-Scroll all the way to the Very bottom and go again---repeat-scroll-repeat-scroll. Yes I will still buy TurboTax again because it is still what I use when it comes tax time.
What's great about it: Get the Answers Quickly!
What's not so great: New look was not what I was expecting.

Turbo tax is a useful product that anyone can use. Even, if they have no experience in doing your own taxes. They simplify the process every step of the way and if you are not sure what the process is you can use the help icon and it will explain to you in detail pertaining to any questions you might have. The technical support was superb when I had an issue. I would recommend the Turbo Tax product to anyone.
What's great about it: How easy the program was to use for state and federal taxes.
What's not so great: Paying for additional states and for the e-file.
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Turbo Tax Basic Box Cover Misleading
on March 27, 2015

I had to upgrade to the Deluxe version because Basic won't let you itemize your deductions. The "Which Turbo Tax is right for you" table on the back of the Turbo Tax box says with Deluxe you "Maximize your deductions" and "Coverage and guidance on 350+ deductions and credits (1040, Sch A)". I didn't need any guidance on this topic since I already know what I qualify for. I just wanted TT to file the darn form but it wouldn't.
It would be nice to have the table just say in plain English - you need Deluxe to itemize.
What's great about it: It did what I needed
What's not so great: I had to upgrade to Deluxe
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

The calculation for the non-taxable portion of the distributions on the government version of the 1099-r never shows the non-taxable amount and the adjusted gross income. I had to bounce out to the support form for this 1099-r and find the calculated amount and go back to the form and add the taxable amount manually
What's great about it: Consistent and understandable interface, lots of opportunities to re-visit and modify any section of the return
