NO 2015 ESTIMATES!
on March 27, 2015
Posted by: Eighties
So where is the summary cover sheet for the federal return? The state return provided it along with vouchers for estimated payments. They have always been a part of past Turbo Tax programs. Where can these be accessed?
What's great about it: All OK for 2014.
What's not so great: Previous programs projected estimates for the ensuing year and provided a schedule and vouchers for the amounts.

File Saving Difficulties
on March 27, 2015
Posted by: Donald542
I had trouble saving to a specific location. It would only allow locations in my Finder sidebar, or most recently accessed locations. Most applications allow me to choose where I want to save the file; TurboTax did not.
What's not so great: It's difficult to save my work to a specific location on a Mac

Efficient and reliable

I've been using Turbotax for 10 years and would recommend it to anyone.
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: hard to apply to complicated tax issues (minimizing taxable income from a credit due to debt forgiveness)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Form 1099R users
on March 27, 2015

I wasted a lot of time trying to work around not having a W2 form. I think it would be better if there was a more visible path to skipping to the 1099R input screen. Other then that, all is good.
Thanks
RodIrons
What's great about it: Quick and easy
What's not so great: Slow start with a 1099R form

TurboTax 2014 Deluxe
on March 27, 2015

Good tax program - been using TT Deluxe for many years. Was quite upset being yanked around to get sched c coverage. Put it back in Deluxe. Quit trying to hide a price increase by moving around features.
What's great about it: Ease of use.
What's not so great: Routing numbers for electronic deposit are generally NOT found on printed checks. Needs to be looked up online.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Took too long to load updates. Prior to this year, I loved the software.

This is much easier than I thought it would be. I wish I had started using TurboTax years ago. Thanks.

May be my last.

Having used Turbo-Tax most of its life, I have enjoyed their common sense step approach to filling out the form. That I can also view the actual forms and support worksheets enables me to quickly check to see either for validation. They have also continuously improved the ease of use even as computer technology has progressed. eFileing, to me was one of the most significant improvement.
However, I have retired, and filling out the forms are a lot simpler. With retirement I am much more limited by cost so may not be able to afford the cost vs benefit of Turbo-Tax.
This year I faced the greatest challenge. Turbo-Tax will only run on a version of Windows. None of the computers that I have currently run Windows. Two of the computers do run "win" or virtual systems that support Windows 7. I do not believe it would cost Intuit much to verify that Turbo-Tax runs on either a virtual system or at least "win" under Linux.
But thanks for the past years of service.
What's great about it: Presentation of forms and step by step approach, eFile capability. State section.
What's not so great: Requires Windows
