better than doing it by hand

better than doing it by hand with only the govt forms and their explanations.
Quicker to have "you should fill this out and why" than "hmmmmm what do I need to fill out?...........2 forms and 3 worksheets later....."
What's great about it: explanations are more clear and succinct than on the irs instruction forms
What's not so great: occaisionally a bit of a run-around, e.g. printing state forms or learning if 1099Q data had beed applied

You have the best game in town so I go with you, but stop acting like the airlines. Just show me what you cost upfront. State E File should have been included with the deductions & homeowners edition.

Was able to complete my taxes in one afternoon. Have been using TurboTax for many years and it fits like an old shoe.
What's great about it: Efficient, intuitive, and thorough.
What's not so great: Should not have to pay for efile of state form.

I have used TurboTax for many years now. I also prepare my return using a spreadsheet program. When both bottom lines agree, I know everything is fine. I have never had to pay to file my state return in the past. February 16 is an unreasonable deadline for free filing, since mutual funds have until February 15 to supply information to their clients. I was unaware of the February 16 deadline until I tried to e-file my state return. I wonder what I will do about next year's filing.

I like that I am in charge of my taxes, and can do it myself. With TurboTax, I get an accurate product I can trust.
