Although there has been improvement in recent years, navigation is still confusing and tedious.
What's great about it: I'm tired of puzzling over increasingly difficult tax forms, expecially New York State
What's not so great: Extra expense to E-file. Simple forms like NJ should have a nominal fee.

Rejected Error

The correction screen had highlighted areas where attention was needed. It would have been better to go through the whole thing step by step like the federal portion.
The rejection was for something that the error checking allowed! It let me put a zero for amount due ( tax) when the correct thing was for that line to be blank, since I had a refund coming.
Had to call for help and went to forms and fixed it , then refiled.

What's great about it: Federal lead through the process was fine.
What's not so great: State was not the same. It pre populated things, and then I had a corrections screen.

Why would anyone pay to have their taxes done??

I'm most impressed by the way it carries you through each section meticulously, and it's so easy to follow. I love the fact you can e-file immediately after you're finished with your return.
My first attempt was doing my 2013 return. It was a breeze
I'm 73, and TurboTax is the way to go for me! Everyone should try it!

What's great about it: The ease of doing taxes w/Turbotax is AMAZING!!
What's not so great: I like to see that little lock in the task bar, even with the https there.

Greased my Wheels

Turbo Tax is one of the better written and functional software packages that I have ever used. I feel confident making this comment in that I have 45 years experience in Information Technology in senior management. In this capacity I was expected to evaluate software and make buy or no-buy decisions.
The software is, from my perspective, bug-free. There are a couple of minor user ergonomic issues but, these do not affect the performance of the product.
Turbo Tax definitely gets the buy OK from my office!
What's great about it: Well written, understandable, clearly presented interrogations.
What's not so great: Income and deduction catagory screens should have next catagory button at top so that user does not need to page down.

We have been using TurboTax Deluxe for years! We love the program. It's super user friendly and has all of the information needed.
What's great about it: EASY
What's not so great: They don't pay your amount owed ;)

Wow! It wasn't easy, but I could still do it!

You still need to have all of your documents and receipts, but TurboTax helps you to enter everything in the correct place and then checks return for accuracy. I liked it much better than going to a tax preparer AND having to pay!
What's great about it: simple to use, walked me through every step
What's not so great: went back to the beginning of each section instead of just back to what I wanted to change

Nore than expected.

It took forever to answer all the questions for each line, after which I found out I did not even need to have gone through that section after all. I go through each section as I am afraid the system will kick me out for not answering all of the questions of the line by line items. If there was a way to bypass those areas not pertaining to me and I wouldn't get kicked back to the beginning to start all over, using Turbo Tax for my simple returns would be a lot faster. I wish your bulletins on the Hacker incidents would be sent directly to my email address, so I know you re-secured your web site. Thanks.
What's great about it: Went faster this year.
What's not so great: Worried about hackers getting my refund.
