Scary experience
on March 21, 2015

I have used TurboTax for several years. I have had good and bad experiences but have always got through the pain. This year their customer service put a really big scare in the process. First of all, everyone I talked to was nice and friendly. However, after checking on a Phishy email I received, I was told by Customer Service that my return had already been filed and deposited into someone else's account. This caused us to file with FTC, police, contact banks, etc. After about 24 hours of frantic work to protect ourselves, we call them again and were told everything was OK. Same with our third call the next day. We have never gotten an apology or explanation how this happened and of course all the time we dedicated to freezing accounts and phone calls. At the end of the day, our return went through fine.
What's great about it: Federal Return was fairly easy
What's not so great: Scary bad customer service

over all TTax gets a 90% score. it does not work properly with win XP, and requires a certain version of win explorer to run. It also needs a certain version of .net installed
I wish the box (bought the CD) told me this in big bright red letters.
What's great about it: ease of use
What's not so great: compatibility with prior product

Have used for ten years - gets better (and easier) EVERY year
What's great about it: Simple even with many itemizations
What's not so great: What's up with the Amozon plug?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Easy to use

The guide makes it easy to go forward in the process. Backtracking can be cumbersome. No direct path to check and/or change a previously made entry. For new users some hints for collecting data would be helpful. Turbo Tax assumes that you use Quick Books or another Intuit tool.
What's great about it: Guide makes it easy to use
What's not so great: Back tracking to make a change to an entry can be cumbersome.

Clarify fee for state e-filing
on March 21, 2015

This is an excellent product. They should make it crystal clear at every step that there is a fee associated with state e-filing.
What's great about it: Clear language, easy to navigate manually
What's not so great: Prompt for state e-filing does not indicate there is a fee

The questions have become easier to understand over the years to keep from entering incorrect information. I appreciate the continual updates of the software. My only gripe is that the price keeps escalating each year. Seems pretty high cost to add on efiling a state return.
What's great about it: brings information forward from previous years
What's not so great: extra cost for state filing
