Be prepared for envy...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After 2 months of use, I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed cooking more. This is my first gas range, and I will never go back to electric. From pre-heating the pans quickly to water boiling in the blink of an eye, I could not be more thrilled! I read that when remodeling a kitchen, the range is the one thing you should splurge on. After cooking 4 different things at once on this range (all cooked to perfection with no overcrowding), I could not agree more. The one downside is that it is a little tedious to clean, especially after frying food or making bacon. You have to move each grate and clean underneath. The surface is extremely nonstick and a microfiber cloth does the trick, but it is not as easy as a glasstop electric surface.

Wonderful

Best decision we made in our kitchen. It took me a little bit of time to learn the power of each burner but now I have it down. I did consider a Wolf and passed because of the price. The Wolf does have dual
Flame on all burners. That would be nice to have but I have found this unit to be more than adequate. Very powerful. Not sure you’d want more output than what this provides in a home kitchen. Grated are solid and lift up for easy cleaning. The stainless front above the knobs is already showing some wear bit it’s a kitchen appliance not a museum display, my knobs do not get hot and they have never been in my way.

Beautiful but impractical

I have had this cooktop since 2011 and use it daily. I am an experienced home cook and have cooked with natural gas for over 40 years, but it took me months to figure out how to avoid burning my food (and ss pans) on this top! The Pros are that it looks great (from a distance), and there is a lot of cooking space, although I have never needed to use all 6 burners at once, even when cooking for a crowd. The Cons are things that have been mentioned here already, which began right at the outset: the stainless steel front scratches too easily; the black painted interior is IMPOSSIBLE to clean (this could be because of the very high temperatures during cooking which bake on the splatters and make them impossible to remove); the iron grates are hard to clean, as well; ignition becomes difficult on a regular basis, causing all igniters to click (only -temporary - solutions are to ignite an adjacent burner or to rub a small piece of sandpaper on the little metal stem of the igniter -- even if it doesn't appear dirty); and cooking on the high-BTU burners is uneven. All in all, I am disappointed in this cooktop. I have an entire KitchenAid Suite (cooktop, double electric/convection ovens, amoire-style fridge and dishwasher, all in SS). My kitchen is stunning (this cooktop is the centerpiece), but if I had a do- over, I would not choose KitchenAid again.

Great cooktop for the price

Really like that the burners sit up and not flat like my old ones, in the event of a boil over it doesn’t affect the flame. Love that it’s black on the cooktop and not stainless like my last one that showed everything.
