video services not working
on January 4, 2015

I am really loving this phone with one major beef that has been annoying me ... Video service such as Netflix and cnet ... That have apps in the windows store are not working for playing video. Netflix gives an error messages Q8156 when you get to the stage of playing a video ... CNET video's warn that flash player not supported ... This is a big issue and if you search the internet you will find other users having the same issues ... Apparently from what I understand the problems are with WP8.1 Denim ... If that is the case Microsoft needs to fix right away ... Some of the posts I came across regarding this issue date back more then a month ... And I have not found a solution ... The closest thing I have found is that people have post that it is a known issue and they are all suppose to be working on it ... I am hoping this major issue is fixed soon ... Other then that I like everything about the phone ... Camera is awesome ... Swip texting awesome (I need to practice that one) ... Smoothness / speed of the the screens awesome ... Everything else seems to work perfect.

I came from the iPhone world so I was concerned about the learning curve. Using this phone has actually been very intuitive so the change has been fun.

A simple, intuitive operating system on rock solid hardware. The 830 is super fast and a good size for a mobile device. With the built-in wireless charging this phone is the whole package, and at a sweet price.

I recently "upgraded" my Lumia 920 to the Lumia 830. Although the specs on the Lumia 830 aren't much better than on my 920, my 920 was in rough shape and needed a new phone. The Lumia 830 does not dissappoint. It is overall faster than my 920 #probably because of the quad core# and the battery life seems better, but barely. The camera seems to take detailed pictures as expected with all Lumias, but the updated camera app is not released yet. This camera app will bring a lot of great features to make this camera compete with the best from Android and iOS.
You can nit-pick all day long about the specs, but if you want to do that, you might as well get an Android and compete with your buddies. Nobody complains about an iPhone with a dual-core because, like Windows Phone, the operating system works great on lesser hardware. The problem begins when the hardware limits the features of the phone. I wish this phone shipped with a better processor such that it was capable of 4K video recording and "active listening" Cortana.
Another limitation of this phone is battery life. Although it is ok and I could probably squeak out a full days use with one charge, I don't understand why it has to be such of a struggle. Just make the phone a tiny bit thicker, put in a bigger battery that easily gets a full day, maybe two, and then put in a slightly larger camera cable of even better pictures! The con of extra thickness #measured in millimeters!# will pale in comparison to the pros of better photographs and increased battery life. Those are the two features I think Windows Phone should thrive on.

I've had this phone for about two days now and I've dived deep into the features such as Cortana and the fitbit app since I got the fitbit with the phone. Coming from the Lumia 1020 I do notice the screen difference, I'm missing the 2gb of RAM, and the camera will be missed but all in all the sharp design of the form and the screen is taking care of all my needs as a working professional. The only downside is that I have to reach my thumb a smidge farther to reach the back button and I'm starting to feel it.
