Windows Phone is finally shining

I'm not your average consumer. I'm what you would call a super prosumer! By trade I am a software/database developer; this gives me a little leverage in understanding the how/what/why a system works or should work the way it does.
I was on the very first iPhone, the very first Android, the very first BlackBerry, and of course the very first Windows Phone.
Windows Phone by leaps and bounds outperforms every phone in my opinion other than the iPhone. The Operating System is fluid, fast, fresh and its live tiles are beautiful and functional.
And while iPhone is still stuck with the same UI for more than 7 years, Windows Phone has redeveloped itself and reimagined what a mobile OS should look like.
With the introduction on Windows Phone 8.1 update, anything and everything that anyone has said was missing, is not present plus more. Notification panel, exposed SDK's, more tile sizes, MORE APPS; and THIS phone... this Lumia 830 is now king of the mountain.
The Lumia 830 is fast. Its camera is far better than any other phone on the market other than its big brothers the 1020 and 1520. The design, which obviously is a matter of opinion, is amazing. Add to this wireless charging and FINALLY all the large apps now present.... THIS IS THE PHONE TO HAVE. Oh... and at half the price of any other flagship.... really.. is this a question?

The best smartphone around and really worth the money!

I like how neat and organised everything is. Very user friendly and can be personalised very easily.. Oh, and I am loving Cortana too. Comparing my mom's iPhone 5c and my Lumia 830 (bought on the same day, at roughly the same price), my Nokia Lumia is definitely more worth the money. I don't see why I should switch to another smartphone brand. Keep it up Windows!

I have only had this phone for a day but so far I love it. I have had both android and apple phones and the Windows Phone is by far better. The only thing so far is the search button can be glitchy sometimes but not too bad. Other than that this is a major upgrade. I like the Lumia 830's design. I like the straight edges versus the rounded edges of other phone but that's just a preference. The features on Windows Phones blow the other Operating Systems out of the water. Can't wait to see what Microsoft has in store with the new lumia phones.

The Affordable Flagship Lives Up to Its Name

The Lumia 830 is a charming, high-grade phone at an exceptional price.
Design: The Lumia 830 features a metal chassis with a plastic battery cover and a screen of Gorilla Glass. The wireless charging built into the rear is a beautiful feature. The device as a whole is wonderfully carved with a lively weight and a premium feel. The glass is curved and blends nicely into the body of the device, and the removable battery is super nice. The keys under the display for Start, Back and Search will illuminate when in a dark environment, but save battery by remaining unlit in lighter environments - a thoughtful automation that I really appreciate.
Features: I am extremely impressed with the screen. At a 720p resolution, the IPS LCD panel with ClearBlack technology looks a lot better than it should. It's the best 720p panel I've ever seen. The Glance feature is also supremely handy and rather unique. The PureView camera is also incredible. This device can outshoot the iPhone 5S, with consistently clear and crisp images with exceptional focusing. The Lumia camera add-on apps provide many more layers of features.
Performance: As always, Windows Phone delivers. The device handles all my needs, and every stress I can place on it without hesitation, and I get a consistent 16 hours with very regular usage out of the battery.
I am extremely pleased with this device, even as the first Lumia I've owned. It is feature packed and a fantastic performer.

Simply an Amazing phone! Battery life is fantastic. Call sound quality on both incoming and outgoing calls is great. I've had people say wow you sound really clear...like TOO clear. The phone is well built, but I'm not a fan of the plastic rear cover. Love the replaceable battery and MicroSD expansion. Camera quality is very, very good. Make sure to get the RM-985 version if in the USA.

I've owned this phone since it's release and it's been everything I expected it to be. Thinner than some of the previous flagship models which is nice. Great overall experience.

Windows is great on the 830 but....

I had the Nokia 900 when it first came out and LOVED it! I only switched to the 830 because so many of the limited apps were no longer being supported on win 7. I wasnt certain I'd find the phone with the same feel I liked with thew 900. The 830 is thinner, but with the case I chose, it feels nice. I love the 830. The 830 would be perfect if I could get the popular apps the iphone and android phones can download! Even without the ability to load load those apps, I still prefer windows over an android. I only hope Microsoft does something soon so us Window users can enjoy some of those fantastic apps out there!

Good Phone

This is a good mid-range phone. The size is perfect for one handed use. Dedicated camera button lets me get pictures while riding my bicycle. I have a new car and Cortana reads text messages to me over Bluetooth and lets me reply all with voice (ROCK!). That was a shocker when it first happened as my previous phone, a new flagship (non-windows) device never did that in the same car. Only real annoyance is that the camera is a bit slow to start so I usually hit the button and then wait a few seconds before bringing it up to take a shot.
