Had a similar more expensive brush before this one. Decided to give this a try and it has been exceptional. Have already had it for some time and still works as if it was just bought.
Pros: great value for cost
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for the grandchildren as a starter Sonicare brush

As the grandmother of four granddaughters living with us I purchased the Sonicare extreme battery tooth brush for each of the children. My goal was to provide them with a tool that will protect their teeth and gums for a long life. When the 11 year old twins had their first check up after using the brush for about a month the hygenist was pleased with their improved brushing. I know their dental health will be at its best using the Sonicare. When I gave our high school student her Sonicare brush just when her braces were removed she was very pleased. I know she is now brushing diligently. Our college student was delighted when I presented her
with the Sonicare. if Sonicare is Grandma's first choice they know it is the best on the market.

Battery Life is Too Short

Battery lasts only a few weeks
The closure mechanism for the battery case is difficult to use
The button for on/off takes a lot of force
The brushing force varies noticably with battery life; starting vigorously and quickly falling off. Should it be vigorous, in-between or soft like at the end? I find it hard to believe that all three are optimal for brushing teeth.
I am used to the sonicare rechargable product and this battery one just doesn't compare.
Pros: useful when not close to a socket
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is the perfect answer for people who want the performance of the very expensive re-chargable Sonicare but not the price. Just pop two AA batteries in and you are ready to go. I love this toothbrush!!
Pros: no waiting for it to charge, great price, no need to figure out where to plug it in

toothbrush failed after a few weeks

For some reason, the toothbrush stopped working after a few weeks. I spoke with a Phillips rep and while speaking with him, I put in new batteries and it still didn't work. Then, he suggested that I clean the inner tabs, which I did with a cotton swab. It still didn't work. They sent me a replacement and the same thing happened again, new batteries, etc. My wife has a Phillips electric toothbrush and it works well. But, the battery operated one is questionable. I only used it to brush my teeth, nothing else.
Pros: design & ease of use
Cons: stopped working after a few weeks.

The only issue I've had is needing to take the batteries out when I'm not using the brush for a week or longer.
Cons: not able to keep batteries in long term
