I would recommend forking out the extra money for the regular sonicare with charger. Not sure what the deal is with this battery one but it constantly stops working and I have to open the battery compartment and wiggle the batteries and it will start back up again, but very frustrating. I know the batteries are not dead cause they are new just put in. Good for an affordable temporary use but I would have rather just put the money toward the more expensive model with charge base.
Pros: affordable
Cons: dies
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love my Sonicare toothbrush! It takes a little "getting used to". The first few times using the Sonicare, required some cleaning up of the bathroom counter. After a few uses,I am now happy with the results. You can see and feel the improved cleaning of your teeth. So much better that cheap spin brushes or regular brushes. I would recommend this product to anyone. Try it. See the difference. Thanks Sandra
The think I hate about the electric toothbrush design is that it has such a tendency to "gook" up on the top part under the cap. This leads to bacteria and germs. I take it apart frequently, pour hydrogen peroxide in it once a week but am still grossed out every time I take it apart.
Isn't there a way to prevent that?
Pros: more effective than non-electric
Cons: design flaw allows moisture and gook to collect.

I love my Sonicare tooth brush. Before I began using it 10 years ago I was doing serious damage to my gums causing my gums to recede.

After the Phillips company replaced my Sonicare toothbrush when it got water in the battery chamber due to a poor fit at the base, I have become a better user of my appliance. By watching the video on line I realized the importance of replacing the brush heads every three months. I also learned how to clean the appliance to make it last longer by removing the brush head once a week.
Pros: great for cleaning teeth w/o damaging gums
Cons: diffiult to get the battery chamber open.

I purchased my first SoniCare in 2000. Recenrtly, the battery died. I purchased the SoniCare online and selected the one where you supply the batteries (AA). I purchased another one just like it and I keep it in my suitcase. The brushed are the BEST!!!
Pros: simply easy
Cons: none

not too happy with length of time that the battery lasts

When the battery is slowing down it doesn't slow down gradually. The toothbrush goes on and stops after a few seconds. Most electric toothbrushes stop "gradually". The batteries also don't seem to last very long.

I have noticed that my teeth feel cleaner on a daily basis. They feel somewhat the way they do right after a 6 month hygiene cleaning.

I have used my Phillips Sonicare plug in toothbrush for many years, and I appreciate the alternate current charger for my work in developing countries. However, when I saw the Sonicare with batteries, I bought it to use for short trips. It is easy to pack and you don't have to worry about the charger or finding an extra outlet in a hotel room. It runs for a long time on just the two batteries, and it is easy to tuck extra batteries in a small suitcase. I find it to be just as "hard working" as my regular Sonicare, and my teeth feel just as clean. Plus, it was very reasonably priced. I am more than pleased with my new Sonicare.
Pros: great for travel, low price, just as good as my plug in sonicare
