The product works well, but there seems to be a rattling noise and it is not as quiet as the one in the store. Also I have just changed the filter and cleaned the tank but the lights telling me to do so have not gone away. How do I reset it?

I am 71 years old, have asthma and the wife claims I snore. I read that increasing humidity in a room helps both. I bought two different brands and the water vapor hit the floor and really never got above 30%. This unit is unique. Someone figured that if you put a fan behind the back of the unit to blow the water vapor into the room, then it doesn't hit the floor. I have had up to 42 % humidity so far. White Powder, well it isn't the fault of the machine. Use the filter and it gets most of the minerals that is in the water from drying on surfaces. Fortunately our water is softened at the water plant, which is a big plus. Suggest use the filter, replace monthly if white powder is a problem vs. the humidity. The water tank is a pain in the tush. 2 gallons of water is heavy, and I think, gee I am 71, this is heavy. today setting the tank down into the base i pinched my finger and it smarts. Perhaps the engineers could go with something, like have the filter at the bottom as it is now, but have the top fillable. If I could pour water into the top of the unit, it would be wonderful and easy. the only time i would need to access the bottom was to replace the filter and /or clean the base as recommended. (Hey engineers, top fill, get er done.) Over all it is a beauty. yeah, the fan is a bit on the noisy side and the humidity indicator picks up the humidity around the unit. I have a stand alone humidity measure and have ti coordinated to figure what I need to set the unit to match the room humidity. Nice unit, just modify that tank. Especially modify it so that present owners just replace the tank with the new design and not the unit
Pros: Adjustable, Compact, Stable Base
Cons: Heavy

Product produces too much dust

This was my second unit. The first unit constantly displayed a "Fill Container" modification. The second unit worked properly. The fan is a little noisy, but is not too objectionable on high speed (there are only two settings, high and low (contrary to what is said in the manual). The most significant problem, however, was the amount of white dust generated by the unit. There was considerably more dust generated in my home than outside. Not only did we have to dust the furniture daily, but we could see the particulates in air. I turned off the unit last night and returned it today. Since turning off the unit, the air has been much cleaner and my wife's persistent cough has gone away.

Orange flames

I liked how the humidifier worked until I discovered every time I run it, all the flames on my gas appliances turn orange-stove, furnace, hot water tank. I now have a very expensive humidifier I can't use and can't return. Very disappointed!

Best humidifier I ever owned!

We bought one of these humidifiers about 18 months ago and it has been doing a great job of humidifying our 925 sq ft mobile home here in semi-arid Colorado. We had no room for a furnace mounted whole house humidifier, so this unit stands out of the way in a corner near the furnace cold air return and effectively humidifies the whole place. We have fairly soft tap water and had experienced no problems with using it to fill the humidifier until recently. Despite regular cleaning as directed, the scale buildup finally reduced the efficiency to the point where it no longer works. But Vornado is replacing it with a new unit under warranty anyway. What great customer service! The only problem during set-up was due to the manual saying things like "Refill reservoir to the fill mark" (there is no fill mark) and "The top of the reservoir has a flat surface that can stand by itself during the fill operation" (the top surface is not flat), and it talks about Low, Medium, and High settings (there are only Low and High) so the manual needs some editing. But the set-up was otherwise quite straightforward for someone able to follow instructions. My only ongoing complaint is that the LCD display fades to black during normal operation so there's no easy way to see when the unit needs filling. I'd love to see a LED to tell me that it needs attention! Would I recommend this to a friend? Absolutely! I already have to many friends.
