Great for Cooking but Some Design Issues
on July 22, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased three months ago and there is a lot to like but a few flaws.
Pros:
-Great temperature control and heat distribution with a good distribution of burners. I love having the largest burner in the front so steam can escape more easily.
-All inductions cause a humming or buzzing in the pots but this is quieter than any other induction I have used.
-It is a small thing but the beeps on the controls are not very loud and softer in tone. My old cooktop was so loud and harsh it would wake people.
Cons:
-You can't see the controls until they light up. I always have to poke around a bit with my finger to find them. Once lit they very nice.
-The stainless steel edge will get scuffed and scratched. I wanted the edgeless but was told it is no longer available.

Stunning Design and Performance

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this stovetop as a replacement for an older model Electrolux stovetop, and I must say this stovetop does not disappoint in the least. The design is beautiful, fit right into the cutout area I had already made from the previous stovetop, and it works like a champ. I would highly recommend Electrolux to anyone wanting to buy a professional, high quality cooktop!

Mis-information
on October 21, 2011
Posted by: musiccitytitan
A reviewer above rated this item only mid-range based on the fact that they cannot use their existing cookware due to pot sizes and whatnot.
This is a little misleading as this is not a trait only with the electrolux, or induction in general.
ALL smooth top cooktops/ranges recommend the pot size be within a margin of the size of the burner ring. On a non-induction smoothtop having the pot size too small will cause the burner to quick cycle. Never allowing the proper temp to be reached. Having it too big can cause overheating which can lead to the burner thinking it is hotter than it really is.
With induction the magnetic field it produces is very small and flat. If your pot is too big it may not be able to produce a large enough field to heat properly.
Too small on an induction is in most cases not a problem.
Many people had cast iron or glass(visions) cookware that they had to stop using when smoothtops came out orig. This is along the same line. Try not to denounce a product because you cant use your tried and true pot that great grandma betty handed down. Besides if you are like me I am sure a few of your pots and pans could use replacing with some updated cookware. :)

Read the Maximum Pan Size Requirement
on July 1, 2011
Posted by: CBinCT
We didn't realize until after we had it installed and was reading through the manual that there is a maximum pan size. The repair people told us if it is exceeded the element will be damaged. You can only go 1/2 inch over the outer ring of the element. So good bye to my 13 inch Allclad and 5 quart dutch oven. My big clam steamer is now a no no. I'm bummed. I say this limits the performance of the product.

Cannot tolerate a spill
on December 29, 2012

When this cooktop works, it is great. However, it is very susceptible to spills. Basically, it is not water tight, and the electronics are right under the stovetop. The induction brings pots to a boil so quickly that the uninitiated (e.g. a helpful guest) are almost sure to let spaghetti pasta (for example) boil over, dumping a fair bit of water on the stove surface. This has happened to us twice, the first under warranty, the second not. Both cause the stove to stop working (E flashing on the burner displays and the counter going nuts). The first time it took three service calls before the stove worked again. We are just starting the second round, and I am debating whether to simply replace the top with something that is not shorted out by a minor cooking debacle.

This is a fabulous cooktop
on November 17, 2011

I liked the look and features of the cooktop, but the one review on your site is fairly negative and refers to a very large pan not fitting. I measured my pans, and most all fit. I had to replace a couple because they were copper bottom, but all-clad makes pans that are perfect for induction. I bought a few of them, and they cook beautifully. The only design flaw is the stainless trim which does scratch. I am careful of it, but it is impossible not to ding. It is such fun to cook on this cooktop...simmering, frying, all instantly, and with instant response. Easy to clean...I am so glad I picked this one.

He bit too shiny
on November 12, 2014

In general, I love this cooktop. It looks great in my kitchen and the controls are really slick to use. It goes without saying that induction is the way to go. The only problem is that the black surface is very shiny. Consequently, it shows every fingerprint and smudge. After I wipe it down with the sponge I have to dry it with a towel to keep it from spotting. The controls are also a bit hard to see and can get covered up with fingerprints, and/or lost in the reflection of the kitchen lights. It took me a week or so to get used to this, but it's not a huge deal anymore. All the same, it would've been better if they had designed it with a matte finish.
