I had your first Shine and would not trade it at all but the connection area was damaged and so had to change it for the new shine. Since 13 Dec.2009 have had nothing but oriblems. Needed a new batteryas the standby time was nil.Charge it all night and is empty in about an hour. Cord of home charger is already coming apart and also car charger has been changed once. Many times I call and the other person cannot hear me. I use it no differently like the first Shine and am very disappointed in this one. But am stuck for two year contract. Keys are hard to push. Would have expected better. Also has no clip for this phone and cannot clip it to my waist.
Pros: camera/video quality, durable, ease of use
Cons: battery life, poor navigation
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best Phone Ever

This is the best phone I owened in the last 4 years! I have switched over to different phone a couple of times, but always come back to this one. Very easy to use, super durable - I have dropped this phone so many times but it's still functioning without any problem whatsoever-, gets better reception than any other phones where there is no 3G coverage - I can still browse internet and use mobile email where no other phones wouldn't pick up reception. I will keep this phone until it dies or they come up with the same phone with a bigger screen.
Pros: battery life, camera/video quality, durable, ease of use, games, menus, speaker, tools

Great First Phone

The LG SHINE is a great phone! It is my first phone and i had it now for about 2 years. This phone has a great camera, however it doesnt let u zoom in and out. The video is great also, but u can only have a vid for 60 sec. than u have to make another one. I have dropped this phone a lot and it has only a few scratches. Some things i dont like however is tht the phone shuts off by itsself sometimes and u cant have a song u downloaded as a ringer unless u pay....other than tht i wld recommend this phone for first time users. :)

Cons: battery life, operating system, volume level

i had the first shine , this one is better , keep up the good work LG MAKERS phone is easy to use fits right into a pocket nice and slim

"I've had the original LG Shine Red for 3 1/2-4 years now & still love it. It's been dropped in the snow & sand & sidewalk & still looks pretty good & works & i live on a farm so it does get hit & dirty & everything. There was only once it started acting up on me about a year ago it would keep turnning off on me & then say the battery was dead & even when it was chargeing. but it only did that for 2 days & then worked great again. i would get this phone again. the battery is pretty good i text a lot & have to charge it every other day.
Pros: battery life, camera/video quality, good for texting

An Overall Good phone

This phone is a pretty basic phone. I had the first generation Shine before all the bugs were worked out, and I loved it. It was almost indestructable. I recently upgraded (after swearing that I was leaving at&t due to lack of finding a good phone) and got the shine II just because of the success I had with the first one. And it's even better! I love that the camera has a flash, and the slider is very durable feeling. The battery life is awesome...I charged mine when I first got it, and used it for 3 days before I had to charge it again and I txt a lot. Note...turn the brightness of the screen down and it helps tremendously. The ringer is A LOT better than it was on the first one, I missed many calls with the first one because the ringer wasn't very loud. The screen does catch lots of fingerprints, so be prepared to wipe it alot...if that's an issue for you.Also, LG wised up and traded the joystick for buttons!

Loved this phone

I had the original LG Shine from 2008 and I absolutely loved it. It had really cool features and just was great overall. The only thing that I wish it included was a complete keyboard. It gets annoying having to press the 7 key four times just to type 's' in a text. If it had that, it would be the perfect phone for me. I miss it.

Wouldn't Recommend Shine

I have this phone and you can't hear it when it rings even on the highest level which is 7. You can't hardly heard someone when they call you. I just wished I had gotten another phone instead of this poor quality of a phone. The only good use out of this phone is the battery. I am very unhappy with this phone and wouldn't recommend it to no one and I suggest you investigate before buying this useless phone. Trust me, well at least my phone is not crystal clear. If I could right now I would throw it out the window.
