Self-cleaning breaks oven

Had the oven 7 years & decided to use the self-cleaning "feature". Did that and it broke the door locking mechanism. The oven no longer works and the repair guy needs to find the door lock part or we'll probably have to buy a new oven which if we do, rest assured it will NOT be a GE.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
