HP 7000

Having run an HP CP1700 for 10 years the move to a7000 wide format seemed the best move . The 7000 is easy to set up and thankfully ink cartridges are cheaper. The printer is more compact and faster. However it has one serious flaw, the paper feed. The whole printer had to be replaced after 30 copies as paper feed failed completely (leaving me with no printer at all for 4 days). The replacement printer feeds OK but usable stock is limited to 100 - 160gsm, as ordinary 80gsm paper is consistantly fed as multiple sheets, plus jams occur. Anything above 160gsm will not feed at all, and there is no manual by-pass feed as on the CP1700.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Have had mine for over a year now. No glitches, nothing. Prints fast, fairly quietly, and photo quality not bad! Almost exhibition quality, but you have to ensure the file is of high enough resolution and has been up sampled with Bicubic in Photoshop or similar.
This is a 6* product. QC must be the issue for the various negative comments.
If I could find a way to print neutral b&w prints, I would give it 10*.

Have been using this printer for a while now and like to make the following observations: 1. Very high build quality and small footprint 2. Results on a wide range of media outstanding 3. Considering the size of print possible (up to A3+) -value for money. This being compared to other manufacturers in it's class. 4. Windows 8 pro X64 friendly software installation / setup 5. Initial outlay / purchase price - outstanding value. One thing to note as specified everywhere. The printer does come with only demonstration cartridges supplied ; that are not filled to the top. Consider buying extra; if in urgent need due to forecasted heavy use.

Bought this as a budget A3 printer so that I could work at home. Wanted 3 things 1. A3 2. Ethernet 3. Separate ink cartridges This printer satisfies all the above and was extremely easy to install. Printing to this from 1 PC and three laptops over ethernet and also from a works laptop using USB. No problems at all. Great budget A3 printer.

Pictures; Print outs are so clear especially with the original photo papers Documents; Clear and distinctive fonts and diagrams prints coming from the cartridges. This is a fantastic product but please increase the capacity of ink cartridges to last a little longer.

Disappointed

I bought this printer as a replacement for my HP1280 A3 printer that I had for quite a time but finally gave up, I had in fact had two of these printers which I was very pleased with. I used the printer mainly for producing A3 drawings from AutoCad but I had many issues from the start. The printer is extremely slow to produce the first copy with lots of banging and crashing of the printer then finally it may print, and I mean it may print, sometimes it would just stop or eject a clean piece of paper with no printing, very frustrating. When I wanted to produce a drawing at full scale this is where I had major problems as I could draw say 100mm but it would print 102mm at one end of the paper and 103mm at the other end, this was completely hopeless to me. Eventually have struggled with this printer I had to admit defeat and have bought a new printer from a different supplier.
