Wouldn't recommend at full price

I have been doing my taxes myself for about 5 years. I received a free copy of TurboTax this year so I decided to try it out. I would not recommend this to someone who knows absolutely nothing about filing taxes. Some of the questions were worded strangely and if I hadn't know what they were related to I wouldn't have known how to answer them. I have used Tax Cut in the past and I found it much more user-friendly. Overall, I liked not having to do the calculations out myself by hand, but if I had paid full price for this software I would have found it a big rip off.

We are very happy with my Turbo Tax experience. The software just knew what questions to ask. It saved us a lot of time and money. My wife and I have had to pay over two hundred dollars to have our returns processed by Jackson Hewitt and H&R Block. What a rip off. I wish we would have used Turbo Tax last year.

First disappointment in TurboTax

I'm a retired Federal Government employee and I've used TurboTax since 1995, and with almost no difficulty. Admitedly, my income and deductions were usually simple to report.
I always used the "forms method" as it was easy and direct. There was no need to answer all of the TurboTax questions in the "step-by-step" method.
However, for the 2009 tax return the only forms I could pull up directly from the forms menu were the specific forms I used in 2008. I was baffled by this change as I could not imagine a good reason for it other than to coax customers to use the step method. After considerable frustration I finally figured out that I had to go to The step method to get blank forms; for example, Charitable Donatiions worksheets for several new charities this year, and Schedule M.
I would much rather have all the blank IRS forms in the drop down "Forms" menu.
