state return costs suck

This is the first year I have used a non-professional tax prep program. Retired and decided to give Turbo Tax a try. Surprised at the simplicity and versatility. Simple enough for beginners, but complete enough for professionals. Being able to flip over to the actual forms, and back to step by step is very helpful. Unfortunately the support person I had to deal with on the only problem I had, was ill informed, rude and needed much more training in "customer service". Other than that...a good experience.

Get what you pay for?

Received a free copy of Turbo Tax Basic 2009 in the mail. I was leary of the free aspect that there would be hidden costs or that it only filed the most basic filing free (EZ) . But it had everything included, even E-filed for free. Since I'm in FL, there are no state taxes so I completed the whole filing free. The software actually made me aware of the EIC (earned income credit) that I wasn't aware of and turned a 100 dollar refund into a 3,000 dollar refund. Very easy to use and loved the guided prompts.
