good check of your tax knowledge

I think there shoud be a page or two about what is required or needed on hand before starting to do your return. ,like state and federal ID numbers, bank numbers routing numbers , and even pin numbers
Also the repetition of putting in name and address so many times could probably be reduced. I had to get up from my computer several times to get this data to continue, but maybe since it was my first time , I 'll overlook these shortcomings. Overall the final results worked out fine. But an extra $ 30.00 for the state program is just too steep, since most state programs are not that difficult.

Basic for $29 works just fine

If you have used TT before and know what you are doing and do not have a business, then the $29 Basic edition is all you really need. If you have used the more expensive TT versions before then you already know how to handle stocks, dividends, property taxes, etc. and the Basic version lets you do all of these with a minimum of effort. My only gripe about TT this year is that when using the Community support there is no Back button so once you select a Q/A to view you have to re-enter your question again to see other responses. However this is not just true for the Basic version, but for all versions. I found better responses to my questions via Google so the support feature is of minor value. In conclusion, if you are an experienced TT user, buy the Basic version and save yourself some money.

What I like best is being guided thru complex tax situations, like the new educational credits, and other items. Even emailing the returns to the government and the direct deposit are done painlessly.
