Should not have purchased

Something went wrong and it wouldn't let me change numbers and when I did, it still said I was getting back every cent in withheld taxes. When I had it done, I was not getting that much back. I also did it by hand and it came out that I was not getting that much back. This was my first experience with Turbo Tax and I don't think it was worth the price for me.

If you have your information together, the program is easy to work with and a fair price. I would recommend it to anyone.

I did NOT appreciate you adding costs WITHOUT prior disclosure, i.e., "we'll file your State taxes for $50, oops, it also costs another $20 to actually send it." You did this AFTER I paid $50 for your legal representation.

Great with a few glitches
on March 30, 2010

Overall a painless and cost-effective way to do taxes. The self guiding feature is nice, but some instruction sequences could be more clearly written.
Here are some areas to improve --
1. Program seems not to acknowledge previous entries in 1099-R forms. Example: Box 2b- When Total Distribution is checked, a subsequent screen asks why box 2b was left blank. Confusing!
2. Again 1099-R issue: When SEP check box is intentionally left blank, subsequent screen prompts if this is an error. Confusing!
3. At times the constant up-sell to a more expensive, feature-rich version is annoying. Are sales slacking? Might want to reign in the marketing folks a bit. on this issue!
These are small nits in an overall great user experience. Nice work Intuit, and see you next year! In NH

Why is the state return so lacking?
on April 1, 2010

I do a state return for an out of state relative who receives a K-1. Nowhere in the TurboTax Georgia return does it tell me how to enter the state changes to the K-1. And for this I pay $48?
