Easy to use

The question-answer format was nice. I liked being able to keep all my notes in one place and let the program keep track of the arithmetic. This would not have been a help the last several years as an EZ filer. I had a free copy, but I would not spend $30 for the low level of complexity of my returns.

Great Program!

This was the first time I used TurboTax. I've used H&R Block Tax Cut for years. That too is a good program but between the two I like TurboTax much better. The interface with the actual forms was better, the explanations were clearer and the graphics were better - much more user friendly. The constant attempts to sell the state program was a little annoying but all in all, an excellent program.

First Time Crash in 10-Years
on March 14, 2010

I have 900 stock entries, on review, had numerous crashes and painfully slow performance. Have HP current laptop with 4-gigs of memory, tuned and running well. This is the first time in 10-years of using Turbo-Tax that I had a crash.

2 problems

2 issues: 1) I I had not asked specifically about energy efficient modifications to my house I would have owed $800 instead of getting $600 back. That's just not right! thought you guys found ALL the deductions possible!! 2) need to be specific about saving a pdf and about saving a tax file that can be imported next year. I just saved a pdf last year and had to enter every last dang thing again this year! Again, I expected better of you!

Great help
on March 17, 2010

Trying to find where items go was difficult and the help screen did not help at all. Example when I reviewed the return and found a problem with the Roth IRA Basis it was very difficult to find which screen to go to to correct it. The help screens did not indicate where to go to enter specific data. The help screens were geared to tax matters not the mechanics of entering data.
It took along time to get used to the format of the software package. Once I understood it was a lot more efficient. It might help to have an orientation section or tutorial to get familiar with the organization of the pckage.
It seemed that when I went back to correct a specific screen or data, I had to spend a lot of time going through additional screens that did not need changing. It would be good to update a specific screen and then be able to exit vs continue on to the following screens. Seems I had to enter the data a second time on additional screens after correcting the one that needed a correction.
Aside from that it is a great product and made it very easy to complete the return and that the package took care of the worksheets and checking the details of computation and limits.
Thanks

Pennsylvania Return
on March 20, 2010
Posted by: FredDeBear
I will stop buying the Pennsylvania software. For what I pay for the software + efiling, I could have a professional CPA do the return. Pennsylvania has free on-line filing but requires reinput of some data.
Software for the state should be with the federal Turbo Tax
